Hi, I’m Alice. I’m 19 and currently studying History of Art at the University of Edinburgh, with a passion for all things creative. Last year, I took a gap year backpacking across South America, where I worked on a subsistence farm.
I grew up in a big family of six, with an older sister, a younger sister, and a younger brother, so I’m very used to being around children and helping out. At home, we also have a very fluffy and friendly golden retriever called Monty, and I’ve always loved animals. I bring energy, patience, and creativity into everything I do, and I’m excited to support a family with these qualities.
My Experience
I’ve gained childcare experience both through babysitting for family friends and helping out with my younger siblings. My responsibilities typically included helping with homework, making simple dinners, and bedtime routines, such as reading stories (which I particularly enjoy, as I’m an avid reader myself). I also spent time playing games, doing creative activities, and making sure the children felt happy and supported.
At school, I also volunteered by tutoring younger pupils, which gave me experience in explaining things clearly, encouraging learning, and building confidence. Combined with growing up in a big family, this has given me lots of practical experience in looking after children of different ages.
My Qualifications
I have completed a paediatric first aid training course with a babysitting agency i previously worked for.
My Availability
My availability is very flexible particularly in the evenings and on weekends but im always happy to try and shuffle things around where last minute help is needed. As im a university student i occasionally have to work around classes, however they are recorded which gives me a lot more scheduling freedom. This summer i am available in Edinburgh in June and august.
