About Me

I am a friendly and enthusiastic Linguistics student at the University of Edinburgh with a love for children and a passion for education. I am engaged and hands-on, and can always be relied upon to show interest in your children and their lives/endeavours! I offer both babysitting and tutoring in the Bruntsfield/Marchmont area and beyond. I do request a lift/uber home in the case of babysitting ending after 9pm further than 15 mins walk from home please!

My Experience

With extensive babysitting and nannying experience spanning the past 6 years, I have cared for children aged 9mths to 14 years, assisting with pick-ups, drop-offs, evening routines and even overnight care. I can provide positive references from numerous employers and families, if desired. I am happy to undertake meal preparation and light housework, as well as confident guiding children through homework, music practice, bathtime and other aspects of life. I also have experience transporting multiple children at once, both by foot and on public transport, and am confident handling a buggy.

As for tutoring, I spent 2 years tutoring three children aged 6-14 in French and received an unrequested pay rise during this time for the standard of tutoring I provided. I am comfortable maintaining the attention of more restless kids, and produce engaging and varied lesson plans. I took A Level (Advanced Higher) Latin, French & English, so am most confident with these subjects, but also coached my younger sister to a grade 9 in GCSE (Nat 5) Biology and have provided 11+ help in the past. I have also worked in a copywriting role historically and supervised spelling practice, so would be well placed to assist with all aspects of English language (or English as a second language for French-speaking children). I achieved A*, A*, A at A Level and attained nine grade 9s and two grade 8s at GCSE.

On the music front, I have my Grade 8 with Merit in both piano and cello, and have used my experience to guide children through their music practice in the past. I'd be open to teaching the early stages of either instrument, or assisting with any areas of difficulty that emerge in your child's lessons, if taken. I have experience with orchestral repertoire and rehearsing for ensemble works as well as solo pieces.

Above all, I am approachable, capable and seem to be popular with kids and parents alike. If you would like to see my CV I am more than happy to provide you with this, and I'd be open to a telephone interview or (paid) observed trial session if that would give you peace of mind. Thank you for considering me!
