About Me
Hi! My name is Ruby, I'm 30 years old and I'm currently going through a bit of a career change following 9 years of working in an office job as a professional transport planner. I have a degree in Geography from the University of Cambridge, grew up in Birmingham, and now find myself happily settled in Langside, Glasgow. I love spending time with young children and I hope that by bringing babysitting into my weekly routine I can not only create a life that better reflects my values, but also bring some joy and ease to any families I find to work with. I have extensive experience working with children in group settings and one-on-one.
My Experience
Over the past 10-12 years I have gained a wide variety of experience with caring for (and playing with!) young children, including:
- 4 years weekly volunteering in a children's centre for people affected by HIV in Angel, London. Through this I received a variety of training on trauma informed approaches and play methods.
- 2 months as an au pair near Seville, Spain to 2 children (4 and 6) devising games and activities to help them with their English skills.
- Work experience in various classrooms, from Reception (P1) up to most recently a weekly volunteering role at Langside Primary in P7.
- Work experience at an outdoor preschool in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
- Babysitting and ad hoc childcare for friends.
I have a strong personal interest in the work of Maria Montessori, outdoor education and low-stimulation childcare.
My Qualifications
I have a degree in Geography from the University of Cambridge. I have a wealth of experience in taking care of young children and would recommend that we meet (potentially more than once) to confirm that the arrangement is suitable for everybody.
My Availability
My ideal scenario would be providing care to one or two children under 4 for one or two days per week, on a regular basis. I would really like to be able to build a relationship with any child I am caring for and ensure that we are a good fit for each other. I would be more than happy to consider (some) ad hoc childcare for the right family ?

My Fees
- Babysitting from £14.00 per hour
Happy to discuss fees on the basis of an ongoing agreement, but I will require to be paid at least minimum wage.
