About Me
Myself and husband have three children, an 11 year old girl, and twins a girl and a boy age 7. We are based in Tamworth, Staffordshire and are looking for a PA to support our young son who has a diagnosis of autism.
About Our Son:
He is a happy, energetic boy who loves sensory activities, soft play, swimming, parks and of course, icecream!
Communication: He uses minimal words, so experience with non-verbal or limited-verbal
communication strategies is important. Provide sensitive emotional support-promoting choice and encouraging new experiences.
Challenges: He can become upset when leaving places he enjoys, but with patience and small rewards, he can be redirected.
Safety: He has limited awareness of danger and is at risk of eloping, so constant supervision is essential. This means he loves to run free in the outdoors and enjoys simple activities like throwing stones in the water.
Community Skills: Part of the role will involve helping him get used to living in the
community and making these experiences enjoyable.
My Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide attentive care and supervision during respite sessions, either in our home or
out in the community.
• Engage him in fun, stimulating activities that support his development and well-being.
• Support him in community settings (e.g., parks, soft play, swimming) to build confidence
and social skills.
• Use appropriate communication strategies to support understanding and reduce
frustration.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times.
Additional Information:
Sessions will typically be arranged for 3–6 hours weekly/fortnightly, with some flexibility.
Competitive pay at £18 per hour.
This role is open to start at a mutually convenient time and some flexibility with hours. If a suitable candidate can only support more infrequently eg: once a month, we are happy to consider a number of PA’s to meet the needs of our family.
