Hi, I’m Charlotte! I’m a calm, caring and imaginative person who loves working with children and spending time outdoors. I enjoy anything creative, so I’d be very happy spending an afternoon baking, doing arts and crafts, painting or making something fun together. I also love running, Pilates and yoga, and would enjoy getting children involved through fun games, dancing and outdoor adventures.
I’m outgoing, friendly and easy-going, while also being responsible, hardworking and well-mannered. I’m naturally organised and enjoy keeping things tidy, although I’ve learnt that a little bit of organised chaos is sometimes part of the fun when working with children!
I’m confident working independently and happy to get on with tasks when needed, but most importantly, I love creating a warm, safe and fun environment where children feel happy, supported and able to be themselves.
My Experience
My experience working with children began at 15, when I started babysitting my one-year-old cousin. I cared for her over several years, which included changing nappies, playing with her, keeping her entertained and providing comfort and reassurance when needed. This gave me my first experience of caring for a young child and helped me develop patience, responsibility and confidence.
At 20, I began studying for a degree in Early Years Care and Development. Alongside my studies, I volunteered as part of a reading mentor scheme, supporting disadvantaged children with their reading. I developed an understanding of different approaches to teaching children to read and gained experience using phonics to support their literacy skills.
I am now in my third year of university and have completed three school placements: in a Nursery with children aged 2–3, Year 1 with children aged 5–6, and currently in Reception with children aged 4–5. Across my placements, I have supported children's learning, development and wellbeing through play, phonics, early maths, communication and social activities. I have also supported children with additional needs, emotional regulation and behaviour, while observing their individual development and working closely with teachers and other practitioners. I have planned and delivered lessons and activities across my placements, which is an aspect of my experience I particularly enjoy.
Alongside my university experience, I spent three months working as an au pair in Spain, caring for three young boys and becoming a big part of their everyday lives. I organised games, creative activities, reading, outdoor adventures and imaginative play, as well as helping with their daily routines and mealtimes. As the boys spoke very little English, I made learning the language fun and natural through conversation, songs, games and everyday activities. This experience strengthened my ability to communicate with children, build trusting relationships and create a safe, happy and engaging environment where children can learn and have fun.
My Qualifications
I am paediatric first aid trained. I withhold a current DBS certificate.
My Availability
I am available Mondays and Fridays all day, as well as Wednesdays 3:30pm onwards. Weekends sometimes as well, to be discussed :)
My Fees
- Nannying from £15.00 per hour (gross)
My Local Schools
- I provide pick ups at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School
