My Experience
I’ve been looking after my nieces for the past five years, usually after school for around 15-20 hours a week. My responsibilities included picking them up from school, preparing snacks and simple meals, helping with homework and reading, organising fun indoor and outdoor activities, and getting them ready for bed before their parents returned home.
One of my favourite moments was helping my niece with her reading when she first started school. She used to get frustrated easily, so we made it into a game, taking turns reading pages and acting out the characters. Over time, her confidence grew, and the first time she finished a whole book on her own, she was so proud of herself. Seeing that progress and knowing I’d helped her build that confidence was really rewarding.
Over the years, I’ve built a great routine with them and learned how to balance fun with responsibility, keeping things organised while ensuring they always feel happy and cared for.
My Qualifications
Despite already holding both a Graduate and a Master’s Degree with Distinction, I’m also certified by the Department for Education, which ensures I meet national childcare and safeguarding standards.
