Amelie
Babysitter in Portsmouth
My Summary
About Me
My name is Amelie and I am a fourth year Psychology student at the University of Portsmouth . If I had to describe myself using three words I’d say that I am bubbly, loyal and empathetic. I love children and animals and I am confident in creating a fun and safe environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and most importantly happy!
My Experience
Over the past 5 years, I have become very immersed in childcare and have gained experience looking after children ranging from 1.5 to 11 years old. I have worked with several families over substantial periods of time, allowing me to build strong relationships with both the children and their families. Through these experiences, I have become comfortable caring for children of different ages and personalities, and I enjoy creating a fun, safe and creative environment for them.
Key responsibilities:
1. December 2025- July 2026: I cared for a 2-year-old boy on a weekly basis. My responsibilities included preparing meals, playing with him, taking him outdoors, and teaching him Greek through everyday conversation and activities. I enjoyed encouraging his creativity and development through arts and crafts, games, music, reading and telling stories together. I loved coming up with new and engaging activities that allowed him to learn, explore and have fun through play.
2. June 2025- August 2026: I have consistently cared for a 4-year-old girl whenever I have been in Cyprus during the summer and other school holidays, such as Easter. As English is not her native language, one of my main responsibilities was to develop her English through everyday conversation and activities. We would often go to a local cat-feeding station and the beach, where I encouraged her to use her creativity and form conversations in English. I also prepared meals, helped with bath time and bedtime, and occasionally stayed overnight.
3. December 2026- February 2026: I looked after two boys aged 8 and 9, primarily helping with their morning routine before school. My responsibilities included helping them get dressed, preparing breakfast, making sure they brushed their teeth, packing their school bags, their lunches and walking them to school.
Relevant experience:
I have also worked with groups of young children through Magical Maths and volunteered with The Literacy Pirates, and at a musical theatre school with children aged 3–5.
