About Me
I am a solo mother by choice and my daughter is age 6.5 (Year 2). I have just accepted a new job in Thorpe/Egham which is about 1h15 drive from Bordon at an international boarding school, TASIS England. I am working my notice now at my current role and I am expecting to start my new role in January.
About us! I am very career focused and of course being a parent is a careful balancing act. I really try and maximize our weekends and holiday time together. I particular love traveling having backpacked around the world for 5 years in my twenties. I took my daughter backpacking for 4 months during maternity leave!
My Requirements
My daughter, Tiger, at present has after school club until 17:45 latest which works well so she would need picking up from school, taken home, given a light snack, a bath every other night, into bed, listen to her reading, stories and into bed. We live 1.5 miles from her primary school so a car is the easiest solution to do this but it is absolutely walk/scoot-able in about 35 mins and my daughter has done this walk regularly with one of our ad hoc sitters. For this reason I have not ticked the “must have” car / be a driver box.
We will also be looking for a solution to the mornings as I will be leaving at 06:30 / 06:45. My daughter then needs to get into school for either Breakfast Club at 07:45 or school for 08:30. This could be a childminder who lives nearby, or a parent with children at Woodlea.
On Tuesdays she currently has a piano lesson after school at her teacher’s house. I’d love to get her back into swimming lessons (pool is en route between school and house) which may mean one of the days is slightly longer depending on the swimming slot (most likely an earlier pick up from school).
We have two Peloton machines (bike and tread) you’d be very welcome to use if you are at a loose end after she is asleep!
I would love to hear from anyone who can specifically cover these slots every week during state school term time. I am also very willing to work with a combination of a few people if there is a day you’re not available. I must stress this is regular work during term time and absolutely crucial to me so I can do my job.
During school holidays, I am still working and my daughter will most likely be booked into holiday camps nearer to my work so I am unlikely to need cover then but never say never!!
My role will sometimes require evening events and international trips so there’s the possibility of more ad hoc work and overnights. No pressure to commit here as we can find creative solutions to this but worth a mention.
We live in Bordon in a lovely quiet and rural area in a former Officers Mess which has been converted into apartments. We have a beautiful Birman cat who is very friendly and a nice flatmate.
We try and learn German and French at home so it would be amazing to incorporate this but not essential by any means.
My daughter is an amazingly adaptable child, very loving and you should expect an instant best friend to hang out with! My main focus is that she really likes the person looking after her, that they are fun and love kids.
