About Me
Hi, I’m Liz. I’m 32, originally from California and now living in Edinburgh. I recently finished an MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Strathclyde. I grew up babysitting, nannying and looking after my younger siblings and cousins, and I’ve worked with children ever since. Outside of work I like reading and cooking, and I played water polo through university, so I’m always happy to be active and get outside.
My Experience
I have over 3 years’ experience working with children in the US, mostly in special education. Most recently I was a Special Education Support Teacher at a school, working with children aged around 4 to 14, and I also taught theatre and helped put on the school shows. Before that I worked as a behaviour therapist for children with autism, mostly in their family homes, and as a special education teaching assistant. Since moving to Scotland I’ve done outreach support work with young people with additional support needs. I’m comfortable helping with meals, toileting, dressing and medication. I’m a PVG scheme member and have child protection training.
My Qualifications
I have an MSc in Work and Organisational Psychology (Distinction) from the University of Strathclyde and a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Tennessee. I’m a PVG scheme member and have done child protection training here in Scotland. In my previous school job I trained in first aid, seizure first aid and giving medication. I’ve also completed the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course and have training in restorative practice and food safety.
My Availability
I am available Monday-Friday 10-6:30ish.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £14.00 per hour
£14-16 an hour. I’m also happy to help with homework or tutoring for a small extra charge.
