My Experience
I’ve been taking care of children since I was 15, but my experience started even earlier, when my younger sister was born. I was 9 at the time and have helped take care of her ever since. I’ve also looked after two cousins who are like siblings to me.
In addition to family, I’ve taken care of several children during my teenage years and early adulthood. For example, João, from age 1 to 6 — I would pick him up from school and stay with him until his mom got home. I also took care of Júlia, from age 1 to 4, on weekends while her mom worked. I looked after Tereza from age 1 to 3, and Matteo from when he was 4 months old to around 2 and a half. With Matteo especially, I was with him like a second mom — it was a truly special bond.
