We are a family of three based in Belfast. Our 7-year-old son is non-verbal and attends a local special needs school. We’re an extremely active family — he loves hiking mountains, horse-riding weekly, and roller-skating — anything outdoors! We also love cooking and eating together as a family.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone caring, energetic, and reliable to join our family routine. There’s no housework required — our robot vacuum and mop take care of that! Just the usual day-to-day things like putting our son’s clothes in the laundry basket and dishes in the dishwasher.
My husband travels regularly for work, and I perform at concerts a couple of times a month on Friday or Saturday evenings. I also have two opera seasons during the year, so some flexibility to stay later during those times would be appreciated. Very occasionally, there might be the need for an overnight stay, though this isn’t essential.
Support and Safety
During the first few days, either my husband or I will be at home to help you settle in and ensure our son feels comfortable with you. We’ll also guide you through his routines and cues, as he communicates in non-verbal ways. For his safety, we have in-home surveillance.
My Requirements
We are looking for someone 3 afternoons a week and Saturday morning. There will be times when we’ll need you to collect our son from school at 3pm and take him home — it’s about a 25-minute walk, 20 minutes on roller-skates, or 5 minutes by car. After school, he usually enjoys a snack, a walk in Lagan Meadows, and then supper, bath, and bed. I’m typically home from work around 7pm, but on some evenings we’ll need you to stay later, usually until around 10:30pm.
Very occasionally, there might be the need for an overnight stay, though this isn’t essential.
