Arabella
Looking For A Nanny/Carer/Buddy For My Autistic 16 Yr Old Daughter Iris
About Me
My name is Arabella and I live with my 16 yr old daughter Iris. Iris is autistic and loves animals, nature, music and art. I am looking for a fun, loving, open minded lady who can step into my shoes and let Iris gain some confidence with someone else. She has been home educated and is now confident going out to music events and local things happening in and around Market harborough. We have 2 dogs, one retired breeding guide dog and one bedlington whippet. 2 rabbits and a maine coon cat. We live in East Farndon so close to Market Harborough and have lovely walks from our 3 bed house and a big garden. This role is a mix of carer, nanny, buddy. Its not about education time or therapy although that can be integrated in. For me its about giving Iris the opportunity to spread her wings, grow in her social skills and enjoy life. I hopefully can have some time for myself and we both will feel refreshed afterwards. I'm flexible about times and days and even open to overnight stays if that's possible. Iris can talk but finds communication challenging if she is tense or overwhelmed. She is bright and can read and Im very happy to add in training if needed to help you get used to her ways and how she interacts with the world. I used to offer autism workshops for parents at our little charity so very happy to share anything that helps. I have travelled with Iris to many countries and would be really interested in the idea of a travel nanny too who could help us on our adventures but of course this will all be if things are going well, budget...
My Requirements
Looking for a mix of the odd evening so I can go out and Iris stays at home, maybe sometimes coming with us but supporting Iris so I can relax more with my partner. Then if possible some hrs during the weekdays during the day for things like for me to go to dentist appointments or the hairdresser...it would also be lovely for Iris to experience going out to events or shopping, walks, outings with her carer. I would love at some stage to be able to leave her for the odd night so I could be away for the night but that would be further down the track. As for number of hrs and when, I home educated her and we are flexible. At this stage this is a stepping stone for her to be able to manage with someone else apart from me and direct family. When saving allow we love to travel and go on adventures so that is another position for a travel nanny :-)
