Mother’s Helper / Household Assistant (Child-Focused Home Support)
Location: Beckenham, London
Hours: 2–3 times per week, 2/3 hours each time depending on need
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
About the Role
We are a busy, friendly family looking for a proactive and organised Mother’s Helper to support us during the week.
The role is centred around helping keep the children’s environment and daily routines running smoothly. It is NOT a nanny role, but someone who can support me behind the scenes so that everything feels calm and organised for the children.
Key Responsibilities
* Keeping children’s spaces tidy and organised (bedrooms, playroom, shared areas)
* Helping reset the home after busy mornings and school runs
* Laundry for the family (folding, organising, and putting away)
* Making beds and changing children’s bed linen
* Keeping the kitchen clean and organised after morning use
* Maintaining organised cupboards, wardrobes, and toys
* Occasional light interaction with the children if they are home (e.g. chatting, keeping an eye while I’m nearby)
* Noticing what needs doing and taking initiative
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
* Enjoys being around children and understands family life
* Is naturally tidy and takes pride in organised spaces
* Is proactive and doesn’t need direction - if they see something is out of place they put it away without being asked
* Is calm, positive, and easy to have around the home
* Is reliable, discreet, and consistent
* Has experience in a similar role
Additional Details
* This is not a childcare role the children will usually be at school or pre school unless it's half term
* Focus is on supporting the home environment for the children
* Flexible days for the right person
