My Experience
My journey caring for children started when I was 14 and the next door neighbours needed a babysitter for their two kids. This experience gained me a job as an art teacher for a holiday program, where I was in charge of creating fun and knowledgeable art projects and drama scripts for kids aged 5-13. This then inspired me to apply for Camp America where I've had the amazing opportunity to work at Camp Sunnyside Easterseals 2 years in a row, where I supported kids and adults with special needs. This experience helped me discover my true happiness and confidence, as well as make me realise just how much I love working with kids and seeing them shine. When I returned to New Zealand, I began working with Playball, an international sports program that introduces kids to foundation sports skills through fun, age-appropriate activities. My role involves creating a safe and engaging environment where children can grow in confidence, learn new skills, and most importantly, have heaps of fun. Seeing their progress and excitement each day is incredibly rewarding and further strengthens my passion for working with kids.
I am now working in England as an au pair, supporting children with daily routines, school runs, meals, and activities while developing strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
My Qualifications
NCEA Level 3 with Merit Endorsement – Hillcrest High School, New Zealand
First Aid Certification (if you have one — always good to include)
Childcare & Leadership Experience – 5+ years supporting children of all ages, including those with disabilities, through babysitting, au pair work, camps, and holiday programs
Camp Sunnyside Easterseals Leadership Experience – trained in creating safe, inclusive environments for children and adults with special needs
Playball Sports Program Experience – planning and leading age-appropriate physical activities
