Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I’m often called “Crazy Bex” because I’m fun, playful, and always up for joining in — even if my attempts at kids’ slang are met with eye-rolls and a firm “please don’t”! ?
I genuinely love spending time with children and helping them feel happy, relaxed, and comfortable. I enjoy getting involved in their play, using humour, creativity, and imagination, and I’m never afraid to be a little silly if it makes children laugh and feel at ease.
Children respond really well to me because I’m engaging, interactive, and approachable. I aim to create a warm, positive environment where children feel safe, valued, and confident to be themselves.
My Experience
I have a wide range of experience caring for children of different ages in both professional and informal settings.
I regularly look after my neighbours’ children, including school drop-offs and pick-ups, after-school care, and childcare during school holidays, while following routines set by parents.
I worked in a nursery for a couple of years as a Crèche Leader at one of the Newport locations, supervising children’s play, supporting activities, and ensuring health and safety guidelines were followed at all times.
I also provided 1:1 support for a child with additional needs during after-school club, supporting learning through play and crafts, as well as helping with feeding and personal care.
In addition, I have been involved with a Baby and Toddler Group at St Paul’s Church , where I welcome families, set up toys and play areas, help supervise babies and toddlers, and take part in fun musical sessions with songs, instruments, and nursery rhymes.
Alongside this, I have experience as a Guide Leader and Youth Worker, planning activities and creating a positive, inclusive environment for children.
