My Summary
About Me
Hi! My name is Megan, I'm 21 years old. I am a patient individual who is very creative.
My Experience
I have worked at camp for the past 2 years and at the end of last year I worked at a local nursery, working with children aged 6 moths to 3-year-old. Within this job, we make sure the kids are learning and progressing in areas they enjoy, such as music or drawing. We also introduce them to other activities to make sure they are constantly developing skills in all areas. I also have three nephews between the ages of 6 and 13. I have helped look after and babysit them since they were very young, and continue to look after them when I can. When looking after them, I will cook them dinner, put them to bed as well as getting them involved in fun activities such as backing or drawing. As well as this, I have babysat for family friends kids who were around the age of 4 at the time. This included similar responsibilities when I looked after my nephews, such as fun activities and overall just making sure everyone was okay. When I was in school we would be asked to go and read to the younger years, around the ages of 5 years, which I participated in many times. Working at summer camp and babysitting taught me so much about working with kids. My first nephew was born when I was 9, and I have always helped with babysitting. I loved coming up with fun games. As I got older, I could still tap into my inner child, play games, do fun art projects, and bake with them. These were my favourite memories growing up with them. I recently returned from working at summer camp, I have worked here the past 2 summers, it has been the best experience as I got to be imaginative and creative with them. I ran many activities such as drama, engaging with nature, and arts and crafts. At my camp, we always strive to create something we call ‘magic moments’ with the kids, creating fun moments the kids would remember, which I think is really beautiful. Working at camp taught me so much about getting on the same level as them and having fun. I believe many things I learnt at camp can be transferred to other jobs involving children.
My Qualifications
I don't have any formal qualification but have been working with kids for the past 2 summers at a summer camp in then US and have worked in a nursery in Hove last year.
