About Me
Hello! We are a friendly family living in Whimple, looking for a reliable, warm, and proactive individual to join our household as a part-time Mother's Help, Housekeeper, and Pet Assistant.
Our two children are teenagers (16 and 14) and both have a high level of Special Educational Needs (SEN). We also have a wonderful, busy home full of pets (dogs and cats). We are looking for an offline "anchor" for our home—someone who can combine keeping our household organised with being a supportive, calm extra pair of hands for our family life and our animals.
Location: Whimple (We are easily accessible by car or via the local Waterloo-Exeter train line).
Hours & Schedule: 15 to 20 hours per week. We are flexible on how these hours are spread across the week (e.g., 3 to 4 days) and are happy to discuss a schedule that works beautifully for everyone.
The Role Involves:
Home Organisation & Cleaning: Keeping family spaces tidy, managing laundry/ironing, and regular household cleaning (vacuuming up pet hair, mopping, bathrooms, etc.).
Light Meal Prep: Once or twice a week, prepping a simple "dump-and-go" slow cooker meal so it's ready for dinner time.
Pet Care Support: Taking the dogs out for one walk a day and helping with the cats such as safely moving them between the cattery and the catio, or feeding them if we are late home.
SEN Mother's Help / Family Support: Providing an extra set of hands during busy periods or transitions (such as the after-school routine). This involves offering a calm, reassuring presence, helping the teenagers with simple routines, or staying with them so Mum can focus on other tasks. Note: There is no solo, sole-charge care of the children expected initially.
What We Are Looking For:
Animal Lover: Genuinely comfortable and confident around both dogs and cats.
SEN Experience: Understanding, patience, or a background in working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (neurodiversity, learning difficulties, or complex needs).
Someone kind, and detail-oriented who takes pride in a calm, organized home environment.
A current Enhanced DBS check (essential) and excellent references.
Non-smoker.
What We Offer:
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour.
A supportive, welcoming, and deeply respectful working environment in our family home.
If you live locally in Whimple, Cranbrook, Broadclyst, Ottery St Mary, Honiton, or the surrounding area and feel you have the right background for our family and our pets, please send over a message with a bit about your experience.
We look forward to hearing from you!
