About Me
We are a warm, multilingual family living in Switzerland, surrounded by nature and a calm way of life. At home we speak German, English and Italian.
I work as a special education teacher, and my husband Marco is a designer originally from Milan. We value creativity, depth and a thoughtful, respectful approach to life. Our home is guided by calm rhythms rather than rush or pressure.
We have two children (Anton, 11 months, and Mark, 8 years old) and place great importance on emotional safety, presence and genuine connection. Family life for us means shared meals, time outdoors, reading, conversation and allowing children to grow at their own pace.
The position is live-in. At present, we have a private room available within our home. If preferred, we are open to arranging a nearby room or small apartment, depending on what feels right for everyone involved.
In the future, it is possible that we may relocate to the Engadin region of Switzerland. Any such step would always be discussed openly and well in advance.
Our home is a place of respect, openness and trust. We value sincerity over performance, and relationships over roles.
My Requirements
We are specifically seeking a native British English speaker, as English language and culture are an important and valued part of our family life.
We are not looking for a traditional nanny role based on tasks and performance. What we hope to welcome into our family is a warm, emotionally present young woman — someone nurturing, grounded and emotionally mature, who genuinely enjoys being with children and brings calm, kindness and steadiness into everyday life.
Our children form deep bonds. We therefore place great importance on continuity and long-term commitment. This role carries a depth of trust and requires someone who understands the responsibility and beauty of becoming part of a family’s inner life.
The position is part-time (approximately 24 hours per week, with potential flexibility or extension). The specific days can be agreed together. You would be formally employed and registered in Switzerland in accordance with Swiss labour law, with salary aligned to Swiss standards.
Because we live in Switzerland, employment must comply with Swiss legal requirements:
• If you hold an EU/EFTA passport, the process is generally straightforward and we can register you locally.
• If you hold only a UK passport (or another non-EU passport), Swiss authorities require:
• A recognised professional qualification in childcare or a related field
• Documented relevant work experience
• A formal employment contract with salary aligned to Swiss standards
• Evidence that no suitable candidate from Switzerland or the EU/EFTA labour market could be found
• Approval from cantonal and federal authorities (subject to quota availability)
Work permits for non-EU citizens are limited and granted only in specific cases. Therefore, if you do not hold EU/EFTA citizenship, it is important to carefully consider whether you realistically meet these requirements before applying.
We do not choose based on passport. Our decision will always be guided first by personal connection and alignment. If we were to find our heart candidate, we would be willing to explore the Swiss permit process seriously and responsibly within the legal framework.
If this resonates with you and you meet — or are realistically eligible to meet — the Swiss employment conditions, we would truly love to hear from you.
