About Me
We are a family based in Oxford with two daughters. Our youngest, Emma, is 10 and is neurodiverse. She is bright, kind and creative, and benefits from calm, patient support from someone who is confident, reliable and consistent.
We are looking for someone who is warm, practical and comfortable supporting a neurodivergent child, and who can build a trusting relationship with Emma at her pace. Experience with autistic children would be a plus, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are most important to us.
My Requirements
We are looking for a calm, reliable and flexible childcare provider to support our 10 year-old daughter, Emma, primarily at home for a few hours on one or two days during the week.
The role would suit someone who is available during school hours on days when Emma is not in school all day (she attends school part time) to enable me to go to work. Support may include being at home with Emma, collecting her from or taking her to school, and being present while she has tutoring.
At other times, the focus would be on gently occupying and engaging Emma in ways that suit her interests and energy levels — for example arts and crafts, cooking or baking together, quiet play, or going out for short trips if she feels up to it. The days are intentionally unstructured and can be very flexible, responding to Emma’s needs on the day rather than following a rigid routine.
We are looking for someone patient, observant and comfortable working at a child’s pace, who enjoys creating a calm, supportive environment and can build trust over time.
We also have two dogs (golden retrievers) and a cat who typically demand attention too!
