Hello, I’m Charlotte — the School Run Mum!

I offer before and after school care for children in Silver End who attend Silver End Academy.

I’m a mum to two wonderful children — my four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter — who are my absolute world. Since becoming a mum and watching my eldest start school, my priorities have shifted, and I’ve seen firsthand just how important consistent, familiar care can be for children and their families.

I studied Early Childhood at Canterbury Christchurch University, graduating with a 2:1 and a Level 6 childcare qualification. I have several years of experience working in nurseries and out-of-school clubs, as well as the everyday hands-on experience that comes with raising my own two children — and no professional training can prepare you better than that!

After struggling to find a work/family balance that offered my own children the stability they needed, I made the decision to return to childcare. My aim is to provide a home-from-home environment where children can decompress and feel genuinely understood.

I have a modest home with a secure garden that includes play equipment and five friendly chickens. The chickens have their own enclosed area, and children can be as involved with them as they feel comfortable — from simply watching and collecting eggs to helping feed them. Outdoor play is encouraged and children are welcome to enjoy the garden as part of their after-school wind down.

I’ll never care for more than five children at a time, keeping well under required ratios and allowing me to give each child attention, consistency and support. Traditional before and after-school clubs didn’t work for my son — he needed more familiarity and security — and I know many children feel the same. That doesn’t mean we don’t have fun! After a school day, children are free to relax, play, read, watch TV, help prepare snacks, do homework, or explore the garden — however they naturally unwind at home.

During school holidays I occasionally offer care on certain days, depending on availability, providing continuity for families who need it.

While parents are out working hard for their families, I’m here to offer trusted, calm, and consistent care where children can truly be themselves.
