Hi, I’m Cameron. I’m a 28-year-old originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, now living in Edinburgh. I’m young, energetic, and enthusiastic, with a calm and positive approach to caring for children.
Growing up by the ocean and spending lots of time outdoors shaped who I am, and that love for nature and exploration has stayed with me. I have traveled all over the world, which has helped me become adaptable, patient, and confident around people of all ages. I love sharing meaningful experiences, whether that is spending time outside, cooking nourishing meals, getting creative, or learning something new together.
I have a background in marketing and hold a Master’s degree in marketing, which means I am organised, reliable, and thoughtful in how I plan and communicate. I bring structure when needed while still keeping things fun and engaging.
Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where they feel encouraged, cared for, and comfortable being themselves. I aim to be someone families can trust and children feel happy spending time with.
My Experience
I have hands-on childcare experience gained through both family care and structured youth environments. I have provided regular care for my sister’s three children, all under the age of ten, supporting a single-parent household. In this role, I was responsible for day-to-day supervision, creating engaging activities, helping with routines, and ensuring a safe, supportive, and reliable environment. This experience has strengthened my ability to manage multiple children at once, remain patient and organised, and adapt to different personalities and needs.
In addition, I worked as a counsellor during high school, where I was responsible for supervising and supporting children in a group setting. This role involved leading activities, encouraging positive behaviour, ensuring safety, and creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. It helped me develop strong communication skills, leadership, and confidence working with children independently.
I also spent a summer working with a nonprofit organisation supporting after-school education programmes in South Africa. While my role was as a marketing intern, I regularly visited programme sites, spent time around children and educators, and gained first-hand exposure to community-based youth programmes. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for responsibility, cultural awareness, and the importance of providing safe and supportive spaces for children.
My Qualifications
I am happy to complete an enhanced background check if required and am fully open to providing references. I am also willing to complete a paediatric first aid course or any additional training that families may prefer.
My Availability
I am available to work Monday through Friday and can support both before-school and after-school care. I am also open to working weekends when needed and can be flexible to accommodate occasional schedule changes. I am comfortable traveling with families and accompanying children on trips if required. I currently live in the Stockbridge area, which is very convenient for school pickups, drop-offs, and local activities.
