About Me
Hi, my name is April and I’m originally from Wigan in the North West of England. I’m one of four children and the second oldest, so I’ve grown up in a busy, lively household where looking out for others has always come naturally to me.
I’m currently finishing my Film degree at the University of Westminster. I have a real love for film, theatre and music, and I especially enjoy singing. I’m a creative person and love bringing that creativity into my work.
I’ve volunteered at my local church for several years, supporting both children’s and youth groups as well as music groups which has strengthened my confidence in leading activities, building positive relationships, and creating a safe and encouraging environment.
I’ve also worked in hospitality since I was 13, which has made me responsible, organised, and calm under pressure. I’m very used to busy environments and balancing multiple responsibilities, skills that transfer naturally into childcare.
I’m warm, patient, and reliable, and I genuinely enjoy supporting children’s growth, creativity, and confidence while making sure they feel safe and cared for.
My Experience
I have over five years of hands-on experience volunteering within my local church’s children’s ministry, working with children aged 4-11. During this time, I helped plan and lead engaging activities, support group learning, and create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where children felt valued and confident.
I also spent three years as a youth leader working with young people aged 11-16. This role helped me develop strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to support older children through important developmental stages. I’m confident managing different personalities, encouraging positive behaviour, and building trust with both children and parents.
In addition to my volunteer work, I have personal childcare experience through helping to care for my younger brother, who was born when I was 14. I was very hands-on from the beginning and continue to be actively involved in his care whenever I’m home. This gave me experience with younger children and an understanding of day-to-day routines, patience, and nurturing care.
Alongside this, I have worked in hospitality for eight years. This has made me calm under pressure, organised, reliable, and comfortable in busy or sometimes overwhelming environments, all skills that transfer naturally into childcare.

My uni is winding down as I am about to finish and will be fully finished in April. I prefer not to work Sundays due to Church but could do the odd one.
