About Me
Hello! I'm a psychology masters student at university of Sussex. I'm 21 and love children, and over the past few months I have really been wanting to spend more time with young people. I have a nurturing, empathetic and warm nature and I am big on playing and creativity. I highly value education and development, and make sure activities or conversations involve learning and problem solving where possible. I enjoy reading, crafts, and art with children and have some of my own supplies for activities. I believe in Montessori-like approaches, like scaffolding learning and basic skills.
I am fully comfortable with pets as well.
My Experience
I've volunteered with children from a children's home and Red Cross refugee children as a teenager. I've also taken care of my younger brother and babysat for my extended family, as well as a neighbour (ages 4-9 primarily). I am informed in neurodivergence (autism and ADHD) and have had multiple classes on child and educational psychology. I am however, not experienced in infant caretaking.
I am happy to do a range of things: basic cooking, picking up from school or nursery if nearby (***I do NOT have a car***), going to the park/playground, homework help, help with reading or just reading aloud, arts/boardgames/any games, baths, bedtime routine, etc. I am flexible and we can always discuss anything you'd like to add. I am best suited to work with one or two children at a time.
My Qualifications
No specific childcare qualifications, apart from university degree which included child psychology - BSc Psychology with Clinical Approaches and a workshop in Intensive Interactions which is commonly used as a communicative language for young people with intellectual, learning or developmental disabilities.
I have completed the Child Protection Safeguarding Refresher 2025 Course from MyEducare.
My Availability
Part-time, no overnight stay
Mondays and Tuesdays anywhere between 9 am and 8pm.
Thursdays anywhere between 3pm and 8pm.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £13.00 per hour
My fees are based on the average in the field, but I'm open to discussing rates based on your needs.
