My Summary
About Me
I am a qualified primary school teacher with QTS and have experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, including Year 6. I have a strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum and the SATs framework, and I am confident in preparing pupils for the demands of end-of-primary assessments.
Through my classroom experience, I understand the academic expectations placed on Year 6 pupils, as well as the importance of building confidence and resilience alongside subject knowledge. I tailor my sessions to address individual gaps in learning, strengthen core skills, and develop effective exam techniques to ensure children feel prepared and supported.
My Experience
I have three years of teaching experience within Key Stage 2. During this time, I have developed a strong understanding of the primary curriculum, progression in core subjects, and the academic expectations placed on pupils as they move towards the end of primary school.
I have significant experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, including Year 6, where I have been supporting pupils in preparing for their KS2 SATs. Through this role, I have gained a thorough understanding of the SATs framework, assessment requirements, and effective strategies to build both attainment and confidence in reading, maths, and SPaG.
My training background further strengthened my knowledge across the primary age range. During my university placements, I taught in: Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6. This gave me insight into early Key Stage 1 foundations, lower Key Stage 2 progression, and the expectations at the end of primary education. I understand how skills build year on year, which allows me to quickly identify learning gaps and address them effectively.
In addition, I completed a placement in a local SEN school, where I developed a deeper understanding of diverse learning needs and the importance of adapting teaching approaches. This experience enhanced my ability to differentiate work, scaffold learning, and create inclusive, supportive sessions tailored to individual pupils.
My passion for primary education began even earlier, volunteering in a local primary school during sixth form. This early experience confirmed my commitment to working with children and supporting their academic and personal development.
Overall, I combine classroom experience, assessment knowledge, and a nurturing approach to ensure children feel confident, supported, and capable of achieving their full potential.
