My Experience

have worked in a childcare environment since leaving Secondary School in 2000. With my vast twenty five plus years, I have experience and responsibility for looking after children ranging from newborn to 8 years of age. I have had to demonstrate my flexibility and skills in dealing with this wide age range.
Over my career, I have taken responsibility for not only the daily care of children, but have been involved in the planning, administration and progress of their development through planned activities and structured learning. I love to adapt and tailor the structure of my day by taking into consideration the wishes of the parents and the specific requirements of the children in my care, leaning into their individual interests, strengths and weaknesses. 
An important component of my roles has been the need to develop good communication skills with both children and parents, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to all situations. Through the different contracts I have held, I am confident in working on my own or as a member of a team, building trust and confidence with parents or fellow working colleagues. I am capable of using my own initiative and welcome new challenges and opportunities.
I have an organised and structured approach to my work. I believe I possess the right balance of skills and experience to establish good working relationships in any working environment. I consider myself to be an honest, trustworthy, hardworking, flexible and reliable person. I pride myself on bringing the right balance of fun whilst teaching and maintaining healthy boundaries which allows all the children in my care to feel safe and secure. 
My previous roles have included 3 separate rota positions, ranging from one week on/off to one month on/off, I really enjoyed the life balance that the rota set-up brings. I have cared for families with one child up to families with four children. Without intention but purely having a huge admiration and wonder for twins I have had the pleasure for caring for six sets of twins during my career. 
As a nanny it is essential for the children in my care to feel safe, secure, loved and seen. I believe boundaries are a great way to help a child feel safe and secure and this in turn allows for lots of time for fun, laughter, play and learning. I’m a very keen swimmer and lover of water myself. I believe in teaching children to swim from an early age and learning about water safety is a vital part of growing up and an extremely important life skill. I also love to share with the children my love for nature and the joys and learning opportunities it can bring, along with providing children a fresh, healthy, varied diet. Nutritious, clean food is another important part for a healthy child to flourish and grow. 
I am ready to welcome my next role where I can become an integral part of a family set-up and bring my knowledge and experience to help enrich another child/children’s childhood and support the parents and their wishes to the best of my ability.
