About Me
My name is Sarah and I have a little boy who will be one in August 2026, which is when I will be going back to work.
My little one is a happy, smiley boy but he was born with partial hearing loss in both ears, so wears hearing aids so that he can access sound. Due to this we are looking for a childminder, as we feel he would learn and thrive better in a smaller, more personal care environment.
He loves currently playing with his rattles, chewing his teething toys and watching Miss Apple.
We are very much learning as we go with the hearing loss and understanding his cues when he needs a little cuddle and break from noisey environments. We will be raising him with British Sign Language alongside his speech learning, so that he has another way to communicate if it is ever needed when he is older.
My Requirements
Looking for a childminder who accepts the 30 free hours funding to look after my little boy from August 2026 for 5 days a week.
He is partially deaf so wears hearing aids, so we are looking for someone who will be able to keep a close eye on him and would be willing to learn about the aids so that they can be worn throughout the day. Due to his hearing loss, we are looking for someone that would be willing to communicate with and receive occasional visits from his Teacher of the Deaf when needed.
We want him to socialise, learn and have fun while he develops, so that he grows to know his hearing aids are just a bonus part of him. It would be perfect if someone has previous experience of looking after a child that has additional needs, but we appreciate that along with us, there is much that will be learnt all together as he grows.
