About Me
Hi I’m Ronnie, the founder of Little Homesteaders Childcare based in Thorn, Houghton Regis.
Little Homesteaders is designed to provide a calm, nurturing, home from home environment where children can explore, grow in confidence and develop a genuine love of learning.
We will spend lots of time outdoors in the garden and growing spaces, planting vegetables, exploring nature, messy play in the mud kitchen and taking part in seasonal activities. Inside, children will enjoy baking, crafts, building, storytelling and imaginative play in a no screens environment.
My aim is to create a setting where childhood is full of fresh air, curiosity, imagination and meaningful experiences, while working closely with families to support each child’s development.
My Experience
Alongside my professional career in management and operational roles, I have gained valuable experience working directly with children through community groups.
I previously volunteered as a Toddler Group Leader, helping organise activities and create a welcoming space where young children could play, explore and socialise. I have also been a Beaver Scout Leader, planning and delivering engaging activities that encouraged teamwork, creativity and outdoor exploration.
I am also currently involved with our local community association, supporting local initiatives and community activities. Being part of the community is very important to me and I enjoy helping create opportunities for families to connect and children to thrive locally.
I am also a mother of 2 children and auntie to 16, which has given me many years of hands-on experience caring for and supporting children of different ages and personalities.
As a parent myself, I understand the realities of balancing work, childcare, school runs, commuting and busy family routines. I know how important it is for parents to feel confident that their children are safe, happy and well cared for while they are at work.
This understanding shapes the way I run my setting, creating a calm, reliable and supportive environment for both children and families.
I am passionate about outdoor learning, gardening, cooking from scratch and providing meaningful experiences that help children learn through play.
I am committed to continuous professional development and maintaining high standards of care, safeguarding and safety within my setting.
