Live Out Nanny
Nanny Share

Role summary
We are seeking an experienced, warm, reliable, and proactive nanny to join our family on a permanent, full-time basis, with the potential for the role to be long-term. The role is centred on the sole and primary care of our son (born November 2025) in our home, with responsibility for all aspects of his daily routine, development and wellbeing. We are looking for someone who is genuinely enthusiastic about working with young children, who takes pride in running a calm and well-organised routine, and who is comfortable working independently in a busy professional household. We hope to find someone who would like to stay in the role long-term, including as our family (hopefully) grows.

Key terms
Position: Nanny (live-out).
Working hours: Average of 40 hours per week, with flexibility required as needs arise (see below).
Holiday entitlement: 20 days’ annual leave plus UK bank holidays. Requests for leave shall be made with at least 6 weeks’ notice.
Pension: Auto-enrolment in a qualifying workplace pension scheme in accordance with statutory requirements.
Probationary period: Three months.
Notice period: 6 weeks, following successful completion of probation.
Start date: November/December 2026, with precise date to be agreed.

Working hours and flexibility
The role is structured around an average of 40 hours per week, typically Monday to Thursday during core working hours. Both parents work in demanding professional roles and we therefore need a nanny who is genuinely flexible: from time to time we will need earlier starts, later finishes, or occasional cover at short notice (for example to accommodate work travel or evening events). Any additional hours worked beyond the contracted average will be paid at the agreed hourly rate or compensated by time off in lieu, by mutual agreement. We will always give as much notice as possible of any changes to the standard pattern, and we are equally mindful of giving the nanny predictability and proper rest where we can.

Job description: roles and responsibilities
Sole charge care of the child
• Acting as the primary carer of our child throughout the working day, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing at all times.
• Establishing and maintaining a consistent, age-appropriate daily routine covering meals, naps, play, learning and outdoor time.
• Responding sensitively and patiently to the child’s emotional and developmental needs, and providing a calm, secure and affectionate environment.
• Liaising with the parents on all matters relating to the child’s care, and keeping a brief daily handover (verbal or written) covering meals, sleep, mood and any notable events.

Development, play and learning
• Planning and leading a varied programme of stimulating activities suitable to the child’s age and stage (including imaginative play, reading, music, arts and crafts, sensory activities and physical play).
• Encouraging language development, social skills, independence and curiosity through everyday interactions.
• Arranging and supervising regular outings to parks, playgroups, libraries, soft play, classes and other age-appropriate activities.
• Supporting the development of healthy habits around sleep, eating, screen time and behaviour, in line with the parents’ approach.

Meals and nutrition
• Preparing fresh, balanced and nutritious meals and snacks for the child each day, including breakfast and lunch as appropriate.
• Liaising with the parents regarding food shopping for the child’s meals.
• Adhering to any dietary requirements, allergies or feeding plans, as agreed with the parents.

Health, safety and wellbeing
• Maintaining a safe environment in the home and on outings, including risk-awareness around the kitchen, stairs, garden, road safety and water.
• Administering medication only as agreed in writing with the parents, and keeping clear records of any doses given.
• Recognising signs of illness, responding calmly to minor injuries, and contacting the parents promptly in the event of any concern. The nanny must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current paediatric first aid certificate.
• Attending routine medical, dental and developmental appointments with or on behalf of the parents where required.
Nursery duties and household tasks relating to the child
• Keeping the child’s bedroom, playroom, bathroom and other spaces tidy, clean and well-organised.
• Washing, ironing and putting away the child’s clothing and bedding.
• Sterilising bottles and equipment as needed, and managing the child’s laundry, toys, books and equipment.
• Light tidying of shared family spaces used during the day (e.g. clearing up after meals and play). This is a nanny role rather than a housekeeper role; broader household cleaning is not expected.

Communication and household integration
• Working collaboratively with both parents and, where relevant, with grandparents, the cleaner and any other professionals involved in the child’s care.
• Respecting the family’s privacy and treating all information about the household as strictly
• confidential.
• Raising any concerns about the child or the role early and openly, and contributing constructively to a positive, professional working relationship.

Person specification
Essential
• Significant relevant experience as a nanny, ideally including sole-charge care of a child of comparable age.
• Genuine warmth and patience.
• Reliable, punctual and well-organised, with the ability to use initiative and manage the day independently.
• Strong communication skills.
• Current paediatric first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one before commencing the role, at the family’s expense).
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Contactable references covering recent relevant employment.
• Non-smoker.
• Comfortable with a dog in the home.

Desirable
• Experience supporting early language and pre-school learning.
• Basic cookery skills and an interest in healthy children’s food.
• Swimming ability and confidence taking the child swimming.
