About Me
I am 37 years old, currently have no children of my own but hope to in the near future. I have been a Brown Owl in a Brownie unit since i was 18 years of age. I enjoy reading, drawing and writing as well as getting out for walks in the countryside or by the sea.
My Experience
I have many years of experience working with Children of all ages. I worked in Children's Services in my early 20s, following this i moved into Nannying for several families with multiple children each. The ages ranged from 6 months to teenagers. I have run Brownie packs since i was 18 years of age, including taking groups of children away for long weekends. My childcare style is playful and communicative. I like to use words to explore the world and behaviours we experience. For example, with children i would point out what we are seeing, the colour, the reason for something to exist, what its does, why we have them, how it links to other things; in order to help grow a child's mind and curiosity. Or in moment of challenging behaviours, i like to discuss the behaviour, the options of how the child can respond and let them take ownership of their behavioural decisions with a clear follow through with the consequences stated. I am currently studying a Level 2 in Understanding Distressed Behaviour in Children which elaborates on recognising distressed behaviour and the reasons behind it and how to help a child manage this successfully.
