Leighton is a happy, funny, loving and energetic five-year-old with a wonderful personality. He loves being active, playing outdoors, exploring and having fun. Once he feels comfortable with someone, he forms lovely relationships and enjoys having an adult who will join in with the things he loves.
Leighton is autistic and has ADHD, with additional needs relating to sensory processing, emotional regulation and transitions. He benefits from a calm, patient and understanding approach, clear routines and knowing what is happening next. We are looking for someone who will take the time to get to know Leighton as an individual, understand what helps him feel safe and settled, and build a trusting relationship with him.
We are a friendly, down-to-earth family looking for a nanny for two days each week. The days can be any two of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, depending on the nanny’s availability. The hours will be 8:00am to 4:30pm, and we will pay an agreed full-day rate for both days.
We also have a young puppy; however, he will attend doggy daycare on the nanny’s two working days, so no pet care will be required.
My Requirements
PART-TIME NANNY / CHILDCARE SUPPORT REQUIRED – SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER
As Leighton starts his new school alongside a short-term outreach placement, the arrangements will change slightly during the first term:
First six weeks: The nanny will need to collect Leighton from his setting in HP2 at 11.00 am, bring him home to HP3 and care for him until no later than 4:30pm.
After October half-term: The nanny will care for Leighton at home from 8:00am and take him to his setting for 1:00pm HP2. He will then need to be collected from school at 3:15pm and cared for until 4:30pm. However, we are happy to discuss whether the afternoon collection will be needed during these six weeks.
From January onwards: The nanny will care for Leighton from 8:00am, take him to school in HP2, collect him at 3:15pm and care for him until 4:30pm.
If either parent returns home before 4:30pm, the nanny will be able to finish early. However, we will still pay the agreed full-day rate.
We are looking for someone who is kind, calm, patient and reliable. They must be comfortable completing school drop-offs and collections and able to provide safe transport between HP2 and our home in HP3.
We would like someone who is willing to follow Leighton’s routines, learn what helps him regulate and communicate openly with us. Most importantly, they should genuinely enjoy spending time with an active, affectionate and funny five-year-old.
Experience supporting children with SEND, autism or ADHD would be desirable, but it is not essential. The right personality, a willingness to understand Leighton and the ability to build a genuine connection with him are the most important things to us.
We are very approachable and want the person supporting Leighton to feel comfortable communicating with us and becoming part of the family around him. Above all, we want to find someone we can trust—someone who will celebrate all the wonderful things about Leighton and help make this period of change happy, safe and positive for him.
