My Summary
About Me
Family plays a huge role in my life—I’m lucky to be surrounded by a big, lively family that includes 12 nieces and nephews ranging from ages 4 to 20, as well as my two stepdaughters who have been in my life for 10+ years.
I’m genuinely passionate about nurturing young children and look forward to helping them grow in a safe, happy, and encouraging environment. Support their development, build their confidence, and be part of those special moments as they learn new skills and discover the world around them.
I also believe that learning should be fun and full of excitement. So will be looking forward to planning engaging day trips and activities that spark creativity and curiosity, whether that’s getting messy in a mud kitchen, splashing around with water play, or getting stuck into arts and crafts.
Creating a balance between care, learning, and fun is really important to me, and I aim to provide an environment where children feel safe, happy, and inspired every day and create a home from home setting.
I will be working alongside my Mum (Jane) in her house who is also a qualified childminder with 5+ years experience.
A key benefit of my setting is regular meet-ups with other childminders and children. These sessions give children valuable opportunities to socialise, make new friends, and experience group activities in a fun and engaging way. It also helps them build important communication skills and feel comfortable in different social settings.
My Experience
I have a wide range of hands-on experience in caring for both children and adults, which has helped me develop strong patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of individual needs. Growing up in a large family, I have regularly helped care for my 12 nieces and nephews as well as my two stepdaughters. This has given me valuable, real-life experience in supporting children of different ages, personalities, and needs, from playtime and daily routines to providing emotional support and guidance.
I have also worked at a summer camp in America for two consecutive years, where I was responsible for engaging groups of children in fun, structured activities while ensuring their safety and wellbeing. This experience strengthened my ability to manage groups, plan activities, and create a positive, inclusive environment where children can thrive.
In addition, I completed work experience in a primary school, where I supported teachers in the classroom and worked closely with children to aid their learning and development. This gave me insight into early education and how to support children’s growth in a structured setting.
Alongside my childcare experience, I have worked in care roles supporting elderly individuals and people with special needs. This includes caring for individuals with severe autism who are non-verbal, as well as supporting people with visual impairments, including those who are blind. These roles have strengthened my communication skills, adaptability, and ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care.
Overall, my experience has given me a well-rounded skill set and a genuine passion for caring for others, creating safe, supportive, and engaging environments for everyone I work with.
