About Me

My name is Gemma, I am 38 years old and live in West Winch, Norfolk with my husband and our two children. Family life is at the heart of everything I do, and it has inspired my passion for working with children and supporting their development in a safe, nurturing environment.

Before becoming a childminder, my professional background was in Adult Social Services, where I worked as an Assistant Practitioner. This role gave me valuable experience supporting individuals with a wide range of needs and taught me the importance of dignity, respect, and person-centred care — principles that are directly transferable to childminding.

Through my work in social care, I developed strong skills in safeguarding, communication, observation, and working closely with families and other professionals. I understand the importance of promoting independence, supporting emotional wellbeing, and ensuring every individual feels valued and included. I also gained experience in risk assessment, confidentiality, and responding calmly and appropriately to different situations.

These principles now shape my approach to childminding. I provide a caring, consistent, and supportive environment where children feel secure, listened to, and encouraged to reach their full potential. My goal is to build trusting relationships with children and families, support each child’s individual needs, and help prepare them confidently for their next steps in learning and life.
