Karen
Maternity Nurse in Stanmer
My Summary
About Me
I am a Maternity Nanny/Newborn Care Specialist with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching in Early Childhood Education. Earlier in my career, I also worked as a trained nanny, and over the past 35 years I have built extensive professional experience supporting newborns, young children, and their families across a variety of roles. While the postnatal period particularly appeals to me, I also bring a strong understanding of children's development and learning as they grow, together with the confidence, professionalism, and adaptability that come from many years working both independently and as part of large multidisciplinary teams.
I am available for short-term bookings, but ultimately I am looking for a long-term position that begins as a maternity nurse role and naturally evolves into a permanent rota role, allowing me to become a consistent and committed part of a family from the very beginning. I enjoy building lasting relationships with the families I support and providing the continuity, stability, and experienced care that allow both parents and children to thrive.
Supporting families during the precious weeks following the arrival of a new baby is a privilege I never take for granted. I offer calm, practical, and nurturing support as parents adjust to life with their new baby, helping them feel confident, informed, and well cared for during this important transition.
My approach is responsive, relationship-based, and centred on the unique needs of each family. I believe in building secure attachments from the very beginning and work alongside parents to support feeding, sleep, sibling adjustment, and the everyday realities of newborn life. Every family is different, so I take the lead from your values, preferences, and parenting style, offering guidance where needed while respecting your individual choices. My aim is always to create a calm and reassuring environment where the whole family can thrive, whatever the dynamics.
