About Me
Hello, my name is Jen and I am in the process of registering as a professional Ofsted registered childminder. I live happily with my husband of 11 years, he works as a Firefighter in the city of Sundeland and also has a furniture business making rustic farmhouse style pieces. We have two lovely children, a daughter who is almost 10 and a son who is almost 7. We also have a cute and friendly little Poochon called Rosie. We are a very close family and we enjoy spending our free time together exploring the outdoors whether it be visiting local beaches, parks or nature reserves. My family are very supportive and the children are excited at the prospect of inviting other children into our home.
We are in the process of buying our dream home, and I will be running my childminding business from our new property which is situated in a desirable location in Houghon Le Spring. The property has a conservatory which I will use as a playroom and we have plans to build a large outdoor play space in the near future. The house has a very large garden which I plan to turn into a 'forest school' style setting. Spending time outdoors is extreamly important, the physical benefits and learning opportunities for both adults and children are endless and this will be encouraged in my setting.
Children will benefit from being cared for in a safe, secure and loving family home where their carer understands child development and can tailor activities and experiences based on their individual needs and stages of development. Children will be encouraged to treat my home as their own, I understand the anxieties parents and carers feel when leaving their children in the care of others and will do my utmost to ensure you as a parent/carer feel comfortable and safe leaving your little one in my care. I feel strongly that settling in sessions are important not just the child and parent but myself also. Building trusting relationships from the start is the secret to a great partnership, one where the parent can relax knowing their child is cared for, safe and placed in an enabling environment where their child can thrive.
I will maintain regular daily contact with families, keeping you up to date with progress and updates of how your little one is getting on throughout the day, this is very important, especially so in the early days to help relieve any initial anxieties you may be feeling.
I currently work as a pre-school lead in a prestigious private nursery however, I will be leaving mid-summer once my registration is complete. I aim to offer funded and private places from September 2026 and a refundable deposit will be taken to secure your child's place.
My Experience
As well as being a mother I have 5 years of professional experience working in early years in a private nursery setting, I have supported children from babies through to preschool age. I have almost completed my Level 3 qualification in Early Years and due to sit my end point assessment, which has further strengthened my knowledge and practice.
During this time, I have worked as lead of the toddler room and then promoted to a preschool lead which is the position I currently hold. I have developed a strong understanding of the EYFS and how to support children’s learning, development, and well being at every stage. I have experience planning and delivering a wide range of activities tailored to children’s individual interests and next steps, including sensory play, creative activities, and outdoor learning.
I am confident in observing, assessing, and supporting children’s progress, ensuring each child is given the best opportunity to thrive. I have worked closely with families and other professionals, building positive relationships and maintaining clear communication to support each child’s needs.
I also have experience supporting children with additional needs and adapting activities to ensure all children are included and supported. Alongside my practical experience, I hold up-to-date training in safeguarding level 3 and paediatric first aid, and I am committed to continuing my professional development carrying out regular training..
I am now taking the next step in my career by becoming a childminder, where I can provide a more personal, home-based environment for children to learn and grow.
