About Me
Hello, my name is Jen, soon to be Ofsted registered childminder and owner of Waverley House Childminding. I am taking enquiries now for September start dates and putting together a waiting list.
I thought I would put a profile together to let you know who I am and what to expect from Waverley House Childminding.
I have two lovely children, Meg who is almost 10 and Joey who is almost 7. I have been happily married to my husband Den for 11 years, he is a firefighter for City Of Sunderland and also has a business making rustic furniture. We have a gorgeous little Poochon called Rosie, she is the most chilled and happy little teddy bear. My family are very supportive and the children are so excited at the idea of having some little friends to play with at home.
I am based in Houghton Le Spring and we're in the process of buying our forever home which is where I will be setting up my childminding business from. I will have a dedicated playroom and the garden is large, I have big plans for a 'forest school' type set up and a garden cabin that myself and the children can use, giving us lot's of opportunities to explore and learn.
As well as having 10 years of valuable experience as a mam, I have also worked as a nursery practitioner for the past 5 years. I have experience of all age groups within the EYFS and currently hold a senior room lead position, I will be leaving my place work once my registration is complete.
I am excited to get to spend more time with my lovely family while still getting to do the job that I am so passionate about and love. I also love taking photographs so will spoil you with lot's of frame worthy shots.
I believe that play is central to learning and following the interests of the child is key to meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Children will be welcomed into our home and encouraged to treat it as their own.
I love to be outside, spending time in the garden and going on adventures whether it be to the beach or local nature reserve. It is so important to get children outside in nature, at Waverley House Childminding we will always encourage outdoor exploration.
I am inspired by The Curiosity Approach and Forest School, play will be child led and exploratory, using natural resources to spark curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
I am looking forward to meeting potential families. I will be holding an open day at my home once my registration is complete. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me regarding any questions you may have.
My Experience
I have many years of professional experience working in early years in a private nursery setting, I have supported children from babies through to preschool age. I have almost completed my Level 3 qualification in Early Years and due to sit my end point assessment, this has further strengthened my knowledge and practice.
I have worked as senior lead of the toddler room and then promoted to a senior preschool lead which is the position I currently hold. I have a strong understanding of the EYFS and how to support children’s learning, development, and well being at every stage. I have wealth of experience in planning and delivering a wide range of activities tailored to children’s individual interests and next steps, including sensory play, creative activities, and outdoor learning.
I am confident in observing, assessing, and supporting children’s progress, ensuring each child is given the best opportunity to thrive. I have worked closely with families and other professionals, building positive relationships and maintaining clear communication to support each child’s needs.
I also have experience supporting children with additional needs and adapting activities to ensure all children are included and supported. Alongside my practical experience, I hold up-to-date training in safeguarding level 3 and paediatric first aid, and I am committed to continuing my professional development carrying out regular training..
My Qualifications
I have almost completed my Level 3 qualification in Early Years, I am due to sit my final exams in the coming weeks, this has provided me with a strong foundation in child development, safeguarding, and the EYFS framework.
I hold up-to-date Paediatric First Aid training and Safeguarding training level 3, ensuring I can provide a safe and secure environment for all children in my care. I also hold a full driving licence and an enhanced DBS.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly complete additional training courses to keep my knowledge current and continue improving my practice.
My Fees
- Childminding from £6.50 per hour
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
Childminding prices from £6.50 per hour.
Funding is accepted.

All bank holidays however can arrange care if prior notice is given.
