About Me
Hello. Myself (Nicola) and my partner (Nathaniel) are excited to start this new journey, and invite your child to join our family in a safe, caring and fun environment. We have a 4 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. I have worked within the education system for the past 10 years and decided not to return after my second maternity leave. As a parent of an adopted son with complex additional needs, finding suitable childcare felt almost impossible. My son is non-verbal, autistic, has high care needs, and is still in nappies. When I began my search, I contacted 19 childcare providers. Despite many advertising experience with SEN children, most either declined immediately or simply stopped responding once I was honest about his care requirements.
Thankfully, Nic & Nat came highly recommended through social media, and from our very first meeting, I could see why.
They invited us to visit their home so they could get to know my son and understand his needs. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Their home is a fantastic setting for children, with thoughtfully designed activity areas and a wonderful outdoor space. Most importantly, Nic, Nat, and their children were warm, kind, and inclusive. They spoke directly to my son and acknowledged him throughout, regardless of whether he could respond verbally. As a SEN parent, this meant more than I can express, as this level of understanding and respect is sadly not always common.
After a few successful settling-in sessions, my son attended throughout the summer, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. He needed a safe, nurturing environment that could support his developmental needs, and Nic & Nat provided exactly that.
They went above and beyond to ensure he was included in every aspect of the setting, whether at home or on outings. He returned home happy after every session and, remarkably, without the dysregulation that often comes with changes in routine. For parents of children with additional needs, that is an incredible achievement.
What impressed me even further was their commitment to supporting his communication. On their own initiative, they sourced "Now & Next" and PECS cards to help him communicate more effectively. Seeing that level of dedication and willingness to adapt to his individual needs was truly wonderful.
Communication with us as parents was excellent. Through their online app, we received regular updates including meals, toileting, activities, and daily progress. This gave us complete peace of mind and reassurance that he was happy, safe, and well cared for.
Nic & Nat are genuinely caring, honest, and dedicated professionals who clearly love what they do. Their understanding of children's individual needs, their inclusive approach, and their commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment are second to none.
I cannot recommend them highly enough and would encourage any parent, particularly those looking for childcare for a child with additional needs, to consider their services. They have made a huge difference to our family, and we are incredibly grateful for the care and support they have provided.
