About Me
I live at my home in St.Ives with my 2 beautiful children (11 and 9) and we have been in our home for almost 12 years. We love to go and explore the local parks and wildlife and travel further afield to enjoy beaches, farms and zoo's. I enjoy spending lots of time with family and friends and love to play board games. I can often be found riding my son's scooter and kicking a football about (a true big kid at heart!) or drawing with my daughter and cooking. We love to listen to music and absolutely love books (I will happily read 3 at a time!) so we always have lots of books about at home.
I am so lucky to of have 20 wonderful years supporting children and their families. I believe it is so important to take a child led approach and really get to know the children and encourage play and development through their interests.
My Experience
I have 20 years experience working with children (from new-borns right up to 9 year olds!) I first started working in an out of school club when I was 16, supporting a child with SEN which I loved, and it ignited my passion for supporting children. I then studied my level 3 at College and worked in a nursery starting as a nursery nurse. Over several years I gained experience in the baby room, toddler room and pre-school room and worked my way up to deputy nursery nurse and then room supervisor. I supported children and staff in a baby room and a toddler room to reach their fullest potential. It was so rewarding to be part of their journey and to help them to grow and develop into confident and inquisitive little people (some with very big characters, which is one of the best things to see). Each child is so different and it's amazing to see each child flourish with your care, time and encouragement.
I took some time off to enjoy both my children when they were both little (as they grow so, so fast!) before returning to a nursery, supporting a child 1-1. I studied my BSL level 2 (over 2 years) and became nursery deputy manager and then moved to support Deaf children in a school. This has taught me so much about the importance of equality and striving to support all children to the best of our abilities. I have learnt so much over the years and have had been lucky enough to support a wide range of families, some children with complex needs. I pride myself in going above and beyond for families to build a great connection, to ensure safety and security for their little ones to grow and develop whilst being happy in their environment.
My Qualifications
I have worked in childcare for 20 years and have a Level 3 BTEC in Childcare and Education and a Level 4. I also have my BSL level 2 and have other qualifications (such as Paediatric first aid, food hygiene, safeguarding level 3) I have done lots of additional training (such as child protection, health and safety, Prevent duty, British values etc). I will continue to update my training and practice to the highest standards.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Friday (8am-4:30pm) and I am currently term time only.
My Fees
- Childminding from £7.00 per hour
