About Me

I’m 22 years old and the oldest girl of 5. I have a bachelors degree in child nursing qualifying in 2025. I am currently a registered child nurse with the NMC. I work part time in a children’s residential home.
My strengths when working with children are that I am patient, nurturing, calm, and very organised. I naturally create a safe, caring environment where children feel comfortable, supported, and able to be themselves. I am also tidy and organised, which helps me maintain a structured and positive routine for children.

Because I grew up in a very busy family and took on a lot of responsibility from a young age, I did not have many hobbies of my own. However, through my experience working with many different children, I have supported a wide range of interests and activities. I enjoy doing arts and crafts, helping with homework, playing games, reading, and planning fun activities that keep children engaged and happy.

I have worked with children who enjoy all kinds of different things, and I am always happy and willing to learn new activities that the children enjoy. I believe it is important to follow a child’s interests and help encourage their creativity, confidence, and development through the activities they love.

My Experience

I have many years of experience caring for children in both personal and professional settings. Growing up, I regularly looked after my younger siblings, cousins, and children of family friends. As the eldest in my family, I often helped with cooking, cleaning, entertaining the children, school runs, and general household responsibilities.

I also studied Child Nursing at university, where I completed over 2,300 hours of clinical placements. During this time, I worked in a variety of settings, including the neonatal unit, short-stay wards, and longer-stay children’s wards where children could sometimes be without their parents for periods of time. My responsibilities included supporting children with their daily care, keeping them comfortable, engaging them in play and activities, and helping create a calm and supportive environment for them while they were in hospital.

Currently, I work in a residential childcare home supporting five young people aged 12–17. My role involves helping with daily routines, preparing meals, supporting them emotionally, taking them to activities, and creating a safe and supportive home environment.

In addition, I regularly help a family friend who has three autistic children. When I look after them, we often do arts and crafts, help with homework, and take part in activities that suit their interests and needs, while also supporting the parents with whatever help they require.

Across all of these experiences, my main responsibilities have included cooking, cleaning, planning activities, helping with homework, transporting children to and from school or activities, and ensuring the children are safe, happy, and well cared for.

My Qualifications

I have a bachelors degree in child nursing aswell as training in adult and child protection, safeguarding children levels 1 and 2, SIPCEC, basic life support and fire awareness. I have also recently complete numerous online training such as paediatric first aid,ADHD and Autism training, anxiety and depression awareness, bullying and cyber bullying, child sexual exploitation level 1 and 2, female genital mutilation, domestic abuse awareness, effective communication with family and children, food safety, allergy awareness, loss and bereavement awareness, online safety risks to children, professional boundaries, safe guarding children levels 1, 2 and 3 aswell as safe guarding children with disabilities, trauma awareness and understanding behaviour of children and young people.
