My Summary
Beverley Brook Childcare
About Me
Beverley Brook childcare provides a nurturing environment based on Putney Common. It offers children a unique early years experience centred around nature, exploration, and play. Situated in an exceptional location with direct access to Beverley Brook, Barnes Pond, and the expansive green spaces of Barnes and Putney Commons, the natural world serves as our primary learning environment.
Our ethos is rooted in outdoor education and child-led learning. We believe children thrive when given the time, space, and freedom to explore at their own pace, developing confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a lifelong connection with nature. Each day is shaped by hands-on experiences outdoors, from discovering wildlife and seasonal changes to imaginative play, risk-taking, problem-solving, and adventure.
Our thoughtfully adapted indoor space provides a warm and nurturing base where children can rest, create, and gather, while spending the majority of their day immersed in the outdoors. We purposefully embrace a slower pace of childhood, valuing meaningful experiences, strong relationships, and the wellbeing of every child.
Having worked closely together for the past three years, Mimi and I are dedicated to providing consistent, attentive care and building trusted partnerships with families. Together we create a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment where children feel secure, valued, and inspired to learn through play in nature.
Combining the EYFS framework with our forest school ethos, our primary objective is to nurture confident, capable children through outdoor play and nature-based learning.
My Experience
Our journey into early years education has been shaped by a shared passion for supporting children to thrive. Between us, we bring over 20 years of experience in early years education and childcare, combining leadership, hands-on practice, and a genuine commitment to providing the very best start in life.
At the heart of our practice is attachment theory. We believe that secure, trusting relationships are the foundation of children's learning, wellbeing, and development. When children feel safe, loved, and emotionally secure, they develop the confidence to explore, take risks, build resilience, and become independent learners. Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, understood, and valued, and we prioritise building strong, responsive relationships that give them a true sense of belonging.
We place particular importance on Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), recognising that emotional wellbeing underpins all other areas of learning. We believe that all behaviour is communication and respond with empathy, patience, and curiosity, seeking to understand the feelings and needs behind a child's behaviour rather than simply reacting to it. Through co-regulation, consistent boundaries, and nurturing relationships, we help children develop emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, and positive relationships with others.
Our approach also draws inspiration from Montessori, Waldorf, and Forest School philosophies. We are passionate advocates of outdoor learning and believe that play, exploration, and meaningful experiences in nature encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
We are committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice, regularly engaging with current research and evidence-informed approaches to ensure the highest quality care and education for every child.
Above all, we believe every child is unique. We are passionate about nurturing a growth mindset, helping children view challenges as exciting opportunities to learn and understand that mistakes are valuable stepping stones to success. By celebrating effort as much as achievement, we guide children to become confident, resilient, lifelong learners who are proud of what they can achieve. Working closely with families, we create a warm, supportive community where every child feels a true sense of belonging and is empowered to flourish socially, emotionally, and academically.

My son has been with Louise & Mimi since the start of this school year (nearly 10 months), first at WAP nursery setting and now with the Beverley Brook childminding setting. I wasn't looking for a forest school for my son, but happened upon it after moving to Putney and I am so so glad that I did. Right from my first meeting with Louise, my son warmed to her (which says a lot for a shy toddler) as did I. He has been in several childcare settings, and without doubt, Louise & Mimi provide the most nurturing, kind and understanding care to my deeply feeling, emotional little guy. The pace is gentle, the other kids are kind and there is lots of one on one attention and care due to the high ratio of adults to kids.
Being outside on and around Putney/Barnes Commons is a complete privilege that I wish my son could enjoy for longer. He always comes home completely filthy (which I love) and tired. He has made some lovely friends there, as have I as a Putney newcomer!
Being outside offers lots of great learning opportunities. My son knows more about the area than I do, pointing out plants and trees I don't know the name of, showing me what we can cook and eat, telling me about the different local wildlife, and learning about how to stay safe outdoors. He gets to run, puddle jump, climb, build and explore and I'm grateful to Louise and Mimi for providing such great experiences for him and supporting this part of his education.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Beverley Brook forest school to other parents.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. It means the world to us to hear how happy your son has been with us over the past 10 months. Watching him grow in confidence, curiosity and independence has been such a privilege, and we're so proud to be part of his early years journey.
We believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood and valued, so your kind words about our nurturing approach are especially meaningful. It's wonderful to hear how much he enjoys his days exploring the Commons, discovering wildlife and sharing his new knowledge with you at home – those are exactly the kinds of experiences we hope will inspire a lifelong love of nature and learning.
Thank you for trusting us with your little one, and for being such a lovely part of our Beverley Brook community. We feel very lucky to have welcomed you both, and we're so grateful for your recommendation. 💚🌿
My daughter has been with Louise and Mimi since she was 2 years old, up until now, as she approaches 5, we started at a forest school and now we have continued onto the childminding setting. What I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions i have made for my daughter and her early years development.
From the beginning of our journey my daughter has expanded her curiosity for outdoor learning and this setting has given her opportunities to explore, learn, and develop a genuine love of nature.
What has impressed me the most is the care and dedication of the team. They know each child as an individual and consistently provide thoughtful support and encouragement. Over the years i have watched my daughter flourish socially, emotionally, and physically, and she has formed wonderful friendships along the way.
This has become much more than a childcare setting for our family — it has been a community that has supported both myself and my daughter . I am grateful for everything the Louise and Mimi have done!

Dear Soph, thank you so much for your beautiful review and for your continued trust and support over the last three years. It has been such a joy to watch your daughter grow from a curious little two-year-old into the confident, kind and adventurous little girl she is today.
Seeing her develop a love for the outdoors, build wonderful friendships and grow in confidence has been a real privilege for us. Thank you for allowing us to be such a special part of her early years. Your kind words truly mean so much to us, and we're so grateful to have shared this journey with your family.
We wish her all the very best as she starts her next adventure—we know she'll be amazing!
My son has been in Louise and Mimi's care for a couple of months, in which time we've already increased our days at Beverley Brook Childcare and reduced at our traditional nursery. It's so heartening to see the positive impact: the sheer delight when he realises he is on his way to spend the day with Louise and Mimi, the way he now challenges himself and the new language he is experimenting with. Not only do Louise and Mimi take the children on the most wonderful adventures, they have inculcated a warm and inclusive environment for all the children. It's noticeable the care and respect they show their little peers. We couldn't be happier and would encourage curious parents to reach out and see for themselves.

We couldn't have asked for a better start to our son's early years than with Louise and Mimi at Beverly Brook Childcare. They created such a warm, nurturing environment where he felt happy, and excited to learn. Their approach, especially the adventures on the common, gave him a real love of the outdoors while helping him build confidence, curiosity, and independence.
The progress our son made during his time there has been incredible, and we're so grateful to Louise and Mimi for their care, dedication, and genuine passion for what they do. We would wholeheartedly recommend Beverly Brook Childcare to any family looking for a setting where children are encouraged to thrive, explore, and enjoy learning every day.

Hello Lottie thank you for your kind words they mean so much to us. We absolutely loved having T with us. We are pleased he has continued his love for nature and being outdoors! Thank you for entrusting us to be part of your son's journey. We wish you all the very best for your next adventures! Louise and Mimi x
Our son has been in the care of Louise + Mimi since he was 2 years old (he is now 4) from a nursery setting, to a child minding environment. We cannot speak highly enough about them and their provision.
Both are two of kindest, most committed practitioners we have met, who are so passionate about forest learning and truly love what they do and the children they look after. They go the extra mile to ensure children are supported and inspired, providing the most wonderful nature driven experiences, with an emphasis on creativity, consideration for the environment and learning through discovery and play.
Our son loves his time with Louise + Mimi and we feel so grateful to them for their efforts and energy in helping children to thrive and grow with confidence. We hope more families are able to experience their Magic!

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review Zara! Reading your words truly means the world to us.
It has been such a privilege to watch your son grow over the past two years. Seeing him develop into such a confident, curious and caring little person has been a real joy, and we're so grateful that you've trusted us to be part of his journey.
Your appreciation of our forest school approach and the values we try to nurture, creativity, a love of nature, kindness, and learning through play and discovery means so much. We genuinely love what we do.
Thank you again for your support and for sharing your experience. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of your son's early years, and your kind words inspire us to keep creating magical experiences for all the children in our care.
Our 3 year old has been under the care of Louise and Mimi for nearly a year now and I couldn’t wish for anything more. They are passionate, calm and the children adore them. The forest school ethos provides such a brilliant experience for young children and our son has thrived. He has grown in confidence, made brilliant friends, and can now teach me things I didn’t know about nature! Before he started there I was a bit nervous about the British weather and so much outdoor learning but Louise and Mimi manage this so brilliantly to maximise fresh air and adventures through the woods and the common. The children love it. And if the weather is very bad they have a lovely play room to seek shelter. It is truly a magical experience for a child growing up in London and I feel so lucky we found it. I’m excited for my youngest to start there too!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience. It means so much to us to hear how much your son is enjoying his time with us!
Watching his confidence grow, seeing him build such lovely friendships, and hearing that he's now teaching you about nature is exactly what we hope for every child. We know that outdoor learning can feel like a leap of faith at first, especially with the British weather! So we're delighted that you've seen how much joy and learning can come from embracing the seasons while always having our cosy playroom to retreat to when needed.
We're incredibly grateful to be part of your family's journey and can't wait to welcome your youngest when the time comes. Thank you again for your kind words Cat!
