Experienced Sen Nanny / Autism Support Worker Needed – Flexible Occasional Care For 9-Year-Old Boy
About Me
We are a warm, close-knit Pakistani family in Birmingham looking for a kind, patient, and experienced nanny or support worker to help care for our 9-year-old autistic son on an occasional, flexible basis.
My Requirements
What the role involves
We need reliable help mainly in two situations:
• During Pakistani family weddings (usually evenings or weekends). You would look after and manage our son at the venue or at home while we attend the event.
• Outdoor family time in the summer months – joining us for trips to parks, walks, or other outdoor activities.
This is not a full-time or regular weekly position. It is irregular/event-based care as and when we need it (we will give you plenty of notice). Hours will vary but are usually in the evenings or at weekends.
About our son
He is a happy, loving 9-year-old boy who responds really well to:
• A calm, structured approach to tasks and routines
• One clear instruction at a time (he can become overwhelmed if given several things at once)
• His specific diet (we will provide full details, preferred foods, and all meals)
• Close 1:1 supervision – he is not always aware of dangers and can sometimes bolt away from hand-holding
Your role is to keep him safe, happy, and engaged using the routines and strategies that work best for him.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has direct experience supporting children with autism (this is essential)
• Is calm, patient, positive, and consistent
• Can follow specific instructions and our son’s individual needs precisely
• Holds (or is willing to obtain) a valid DBS check and paediatric first aid certificate
• Is comfortable in lively, busy settings like big Pakistani weddings as well as relaxed outdoor time
• Is reliable, punctual, and a good communicator with parents
Cultural awareness of Pakistani family events would be a big advantage, but the most important thing is your experience with autism and a genuine desire to support our son.
Next steps
If you have the right experience and think you would be a great fit, please send us a message with:
• A short note telling us about your autism/SEN experience
• Why you would enjoy this role
• Your availability for occasional evenings and weekends
We would love to hear from you and will arrange a meeting and trial session with our son so you can see if it feels like the right match for everyone.
