Poor, misleading communication

I’m not usually one to post things like this, but I wouldn’t want any other parent to feel the way I have.

I’ve previously used a reliable childminder for over a year, but due to a change in circumstances I needed to find an alternative. I thought I was lucky to find one locally in Ferndale, especially as options are so limited.

My child attended for two sessions in February half term and twice again last week. Across all four sessions, I received only positive updates, aside from a minor fall. I was then asked for a chat before the following week, however before any discussion could take place, I received an email ending childcare with immediate effect.

No concerns or incidents had been raised with me directly at the time, which meant I was given no opportunity to support my child or work collaboratively to address anything. This has left me without childcare at short notice, and my child confused and upset.

had been open and honest from the start about my child’s needs, including some anxiety around certain tasks, so it’s disappointing that this level of communication was not reciprocated. I also requested clarification following the decision and did not receive a response.

I feel the reasons given were disproportionate to what I had been told during his time there, and I was not given the chance to understand or respond before the decision was made.

Please just be mindful to ask clear questions about communication, expectations, and settling-in periods when choosing childcare. Open and honest communication is so important.
