About Me

I am a calm, caring, and loving individual, and I always strive to create a happy, warm environment when working with children. I strongly believe in the importance of emotional empathy and providing support, ensuring that every child feels safe, comfortable, and open to expressing themselves freely.

In addition to my nurturing approach, I am also highly tidy and organised. I believe that a calm and happy home begins with a well-ordered space, where children can play and learn comfortably. As such, I make it a priority to keep the home clean and organised while caring for children, ensuring an environment that fosters both their well-being and development.

Moreover, with my academic background, I am more than capable of assisting children with their homework, offering guidance to help them understand their studies and build confidence in their learning.

I was born and grew up in North West London, surrounded by a large extended family. From an early age, I developed a deep love for working with children, starting with caring for my younger relatives. Academically inclined, I thrived in school, not only because of my love for learning but also due to the nurturing and welcoming environment created by my teachers. Their influence sparked my passion for education and inspired me to pursue a career as a primary school teacher.

At 18, I moved to Scotland to study Spanish and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, where I completed my degree last summer. The year before, I spent an enriching year abroad in Seville, Spain, working as an English Language teaching assistant in a private school. There, I taught pupils aged 6–18, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in education.

Teaching has always been my true calling, and I’m starting my PGDE (Postgraduate Diploma in Education) in August to become a primary school teacher. I’m currently working as a Pupil Support Assistant in a local primary school within a Primary 4 class, which I absolutely love, where I support children across the class and work 1:1 with pupils with ASN, something I find incredibly rewarding.

I’ll be available for seven weeks over the summer holidays and would love the opportunity to support another family during that time as a nanny. Prior to this, I’m available on Friday afternoons, as well as evenings and weekends.

I am deeply passionate about working with children, helping them learn, grow, and reach their full potential. I believe that creating a positive, encouraging environment is key to their development, and I am committed to providing that as both a teacher and caregiver.

My Experience

I am currently working as a Pupil Support Assistant in a primary school, supporting a Primary 4 class, which I absolutely love. I’ve really enjoyed building strong relationships with the children, getting to know their individual personalities and interests, and supporting them both academically and emotionally. Through this role, I’ve developed a solid understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence and how learning is approached within Scottish schools. I’ve also taken the initiative to start and run a Spanish club, which has been a highlight for me. Alongside this, I work closely with children with ASN on a 1:1 basis, and regularly supervise pupils across all year groups in the playground, giving me valuable experience working with a wide range of ages and needs.

Throughout the last year of my degree, I was working as a nanny for a family with a baby, starting when he was three months old. I had the privilege of supporting him through his early developmental stages, facilitating bottle feeding, nappy changes, introducing solids, and helping establish routines around sleep and play. I’ve been closely involved in encouraging his physical and sensory development, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to witness his milestones, from his first smiles to rolling over, sitting up, and even waving for the first time. In addition to caring for the baby, I would also occasionally look after his 4 year old sister. My responsibilities with her included collecting her from nursery and planning age-appropriate activities to keep her engaged and supported. This experience has strengthened my ability to care for children at different developmental stages, while balancing their individual needs. I understand how important it is to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for both babies and older siblings, and truly enjoy building strong, trusting relationships with the whole family.

The year before, I worked as an English Language Assistant at a school in Seville, Spain, teaching children aged 6-18. My primary responsibilities involved leading small groups and providing one-on-one support to enhance their English language skills. This role was incredibly rewarding, as it solidified my passion for becoming a full-time teacher. Working consistently with the same groups allowed me to form strong connections with the students and support both their academic progress and personal development.

In the summer of 2021, I had the pleasure of babysitting for two families. One family had a 4-year-old girl and a 1.5-year-old boy, while the other had two girls aged 8 and 11. I thoroughly enjoyed caring for these children and building meaningful relationships with them over the summer. Additionally, I have regularly babysat for an 11-year-old family friend over the past four years, further enriching my experience and strengthening my connection with children.

In 2019, I volunteered for a year at a local secondary school, assisting in Spanish classes for students aged 12-15. During the same year, I earned an AQA-accredited Peer Mentoring Award, recognised for my reliability, initiative, and care towards younger peers. This experience, along with formal training, taught me how to mentor and guide students, becoming a trusted point of contact for academic and personal support.

In 2020, I completed a virtual course as a Youth Education Officer, where I designed and coordinated an educational workshop to complement curriculum content. This workshop aimed to foster empathy and inclusivity among young students by addressing prominent social issues in an engaging and age-appropriate way.

Finally, I have extensive experience caring for my younger relatives, ranging from 1 to 13 years old, which has further deepened my love for working with children and prepared me for a variety of caregiving situations.
