I worked as a Healthcare Assistant within NHS psychiatric services, supporting individuals with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Responsibilities included providing emotional support, maintaining safety, effective communication, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Provided care for a cat in a home setting, including feeding, companionship, and general daily care responsibilities. Ensured the animal’s wellbeing and comfort during owner absence. This experience has strengthened my patience, resilience, and ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
Basic Life Support (BLS) training renewed annually (most recent: April 2025)
My Availability
I am available for both part-time and full-time childcare roles, including regular nannying, after-school care, school pick-ups and drop-offs, and occasional babysitting. I am also available during school holidays and can offer evening and overnight care when required.

Vanessa worked with our family on and off for around four years, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had her supporting us during that time.
She cared for our daughter during busy periods and provided consistent, reliable help with day-to-day routines. Vanessa has a very calm and reassuring presence, which made a huge difference in our home. She was always patient, attentive, and genuinely engaged, creating a safe and positive environment for our child.
One thing we particularly valued was her ability to connect on a deeper level. With her background and natural empathy, she handled situations thoughtfully and with maturity. Our daughter felt comfortable with her from the beginning, which speaks volumes.
As I am Portuguese, it was important to me that my daughter continued to have exposure to the language. Vanessa supported this naturally in her interactions, which I really appreciated.
We also have a cat, and Vanessa was very comfortable around it and helped care for it when needed, which was an added bonus for our family.
She was always punctual, trustworthy, and easy to communicate with. We felt completely at ease leaving our daughter in her care.
We only stopped working with Vanessa because we relocated to Ireland last October, as my wife is originally from there. Otherwise, we would have continued working with her without hesitation.
I would highly recommend Vanessa to any family looking for someone dependable, kind, and genuinely invested in children’s wellbeing and development.
