About Me
Hi, I’m Rachel! I’m a registered childminder through Tiney with over 15 years of childcare experience, based in Richmond, just a short walk from Richmond Park and Sheen Common.
I started Joey’s because I wanted to create the kind of childcare I would have loved for my own children. Somewhere parents can head off to work feeling happy and reassured, knowing their little one is genuinely cared for and treated like part of the family.
For me, childcare is about so much more than looking after children. It’s about getting to know their little personalities, what makes them giggle, what comforts them when they’re upset and celebrating all those little milestones together.
We’re a very outdoorsy setting at Joey’s, and I love being right there exploring alongside the children!
Our days are full of muddy puddles, woodland walks, collecting treasures, spotting wildlife and plenty of fresh air. We’re lucky to have Richmond Park and Sheen Common on our doorstep, as well as a lovely large garden where we grow vegetables, enjoy messy play and care for our guinea pigs.
I believe children learn best when they’re having fun, getting stuck in and discovering things for themselves. Our approach is inspired by forest school, with plenty of hands-on experiences, outdoor adventures and opportunities to build confidence and independence.
We also enjoy cooking, baking, music, stories, creative activities and trips out into our local community.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), tailoring activities and experiences to each child’s interests, needs and stage of development.
I deliberately keep Joey’s small and welcoming so I can give every child the time, attention and encouragement they deserve.
We care exclusively for children under five, which means no school runs interrupting our days and more freedom to enjoy our little adventures at our own pace.
Fresh, healthy meals and snacks are provided throughout the day, and there’s always a cosy space to rest, play or enjoy some quiet time.
More than anything, I want Joey’s to be somewhere your little one feels happy, safe and confident to be themselves, and somewhere they genuinely look forward to coming each morning.

My Experience
When my own children were little, I was incredibly lucky to have family around me who I could always rely on. Knowing they were with people who genuinely loved and cared for them made returning to work so much easier, and it’s something I’ve never taken for granted.
I know not every family has that support close by, so over the past 16 years I’ve loved being able to help other families in my community with their childcare needs.
Having a house full of little ones, watching them grow and getting to know their different personalities has always been something I’ve really enjoyed. I’ve built some lovely relationships with families along the way, and knowing I’ve made a difference to their everyday lives means so much to me.
Starting Joey’s felt like a natural next step. It gives me the opportunity to welcome more families into my home and offer them that same feeling of trust, comfort and reassurance that I was so fortunate to have myself.
My Qualifications
* Paediatric First Aid trained

* Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering
* Registered childminder through Tiney (an Ofsted-registered childminder agency)
* Ongoing professional development, keeping up to date with the EYFS and current childcare practices
My Availability
I offer childcare Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm, operating year-round including school holidays for consistent, reliable care.
My Fees
- Childminding from £11.00 per hour
Fees include: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, two snacks, all trips and outings, and weekly classes with external providers.
My Local Schools
