About Me
Hello! My name is Gem and I am a nanny with 10+ years of nanny experience. I am a fun, responsible and experienced person who absolutely loves working with babies and children. I have an interest in alternative parenting & educating methods and absolutely love nature-based play. I love working in numerous ways to enhance children's development and to enrich their lives.
I am looking for roles working with babies and children aged newborn-5 years old. I also have a significant experience in working with newborns and would love to support you with settling into a routine with your new baby. I am PVG checked and am more than happy to undergo a further check for your family, as well as renewing my Neonatal & Paediatric First Aid (last completed December 2024).
My Experience
My work with children began as a fourteen year old babysitter way back when, being called on as the local teenage babysitter. During this time, I also worked as an after school Mother's Help for a woman with four children from 2-12, and a newborn.
I then took on a six month role as an au pair living in a van in Portugal, supporting a mother with her two children agd 6 & 3. This included everyday care as well as support with home education.
Upon my return to Scotland, I enrolled with The Open University, completing a CertHE (Scottish HNC) in Child Development whilst working as a full time nanny for a one year old boy, as well as babysitting for other families regularly - with ages ranging from six months old to twelve years old. At the same time, I worked as a Saturday drama class assistant with children aged 7-12 with additional needs.
I continued within these roles for several years before pivoting my career towards Midwifery, where I completed 1.5 years of a Midwifery degree - supporting a number of families with pregnancy, birth and postpartum support. This grounded my experience in working with newborns specifically which I found incredibly interesting.
I am now finishing my Open degree with The Open University, with modules in Early Years and English Literature. I really miss working with children and am looking forward to the prospect of returning to nannying.
Alongside my degree, I am about to begin training as a hypnobirthing teacher and plan to invest in CPD including advanced newborn care and Postpartum Doula training.

My Availability
Flexible - I run my own PA/VA business and will happily work around it. Unable to work Friday afternoons-Saturday afternoons.

- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
- Nannying from £16.00 per hour (gross)
