Nanny-Housekeeper / Family Assistant (Italian Speaking a Bonus) – London SW5
About Me
We are a warm, friendly and multilingual family based in Earl’s Court, London, looking for an experienced, caring and proactive nanny-housekeeper to become an important part of our household. Our Daughter will be one in November 2026.
My Requirements
Nanny-Housekeeper / Family Assistant (Italian Speaking a Bonus) – London SW5
Our family consists of:
* Mum, who works as a clinician within the NHS whilst completing the final year of her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology
* Dad, who works in finance and spends most of his time abroad for work
* Our daughter, who will be around one year old when the role begins
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys caring for young children whilst also helping a home run smoothly and calmly.
About the Role
This role is expected to evolve over time.
Initially, the position is expected to be part-time and may be either live-out or live-in, depending on the candidate and practical arrangements. During the first few months, our family expects to spend some periods of time abroad, so flexibility will be important.
From January 2027 onwards, we anticipate increasing the hours significantly as Mum returns to a fuller NHS clinical workload and doctoral training commitments. At that stage, the role may become a more substantial nanny-housekeeper/family assistant position and could transition into a live-in arrangement if mutually preferred.
We are keen to find the right person and would ideally like to build a relationship gradually before increasing responsibilities and hours.
Childcare Responsibilities
* Caring for our toddler daughter when required
* Supporting nursery routines, including occasional drop-offs and pick-ups
* Planning age-appropriate play, activities and outings
* Preparing healthy meals and snacks
* Supporting her development, wellbeing and routines
* Accompanying her to local classes, parks, libraries and activities
* Occasional evening babysitting
* Regular weekend support, typically around one weekend per month
Household Responsibilities
* Helping keep the home organised and running smoothly
* Laundry and ironing
* Changing bedding and towels
* Tidying and organising shared family spaces
* Grocery shopping and household errands
* Preparing simple, healthy meals for our daughter and occasionally for the family
* Helping identify tasks that need attention without constant direction
* Taking a proactive approach to supporting family life
About the Person We Are Looking For
* Significant experience caring for babies and young children
* Previous nanny, nanny-housekeeper or similar childcare experience
* Warm, caring and genuinely interested in child development
* Naturally organised and proactive
* Comfortable balancing childcare and household responsibilities
* Happy working independently and taking ownership of tasks
* A good problem solver who notices what needs doing
* Comfortable with a parent occasionally working from home
* Reliable, trustworthy and calm
* Discreet and respectful of privacy
* Excellent references required
* Full enhanced DBS
* First aid qualification desirable
* Driving licence desirable but not essential
Languages
Italian speaking would be a lovely bonus given our family background, but is not essential.
French speakers are also very welcome to apply.
We would love to find someone who is happy to support our daughter’s exposure to different languages through everyday conversation and family life.
Holidays and Time Off
We are happy to discuss annual leave arrangements with the right candidate.
Given the nature of our family schedule, some flexibility around annual leave would be appreciated. Certain periods (for example parts of the Christmas period or times when the family is travelling) may potentially be taken as annual leave by mutual agreement.
We are keen to find an arrangement that works well for both sides and are open to discussion.
What Matters Most to Us
More than anything, we are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a family team.
We value warmth, initiative, common sense and a positive attitude. We would love to find someone who naturally notices what needs doing, takes pride in helping create a well-run home environment and enjoys supporting a young family.
We are looking for someone who is warm and engaged when support is needed, but who is also comfortable working independently and respecting personal space. Whether the role remains live-out or eventually becomes live-in, discretion, professionalism and good boundaries are very important to us.
We would particularly value someone who is naturally considerate, trustworthy and able to strike the balance between being supportive and giving family members space when appropriate.
Above all, we hope to find someone kind, dependable and easy to have around, who would enjoy building a trusting relationship with our family and providing continuity and stability for our daughter.
Salary, hours and package: Competitive and dependent on experience. To be discussed with suitable candidates.
