About Me
Cyrus has a rare genetic condition and complex needs. He has significantly impaired mobility (he cannot sit or move himself unaided) and is non-verbal. However, he understands a great deal and is very curious and observant of the world around him. While he struggles with fussiness due to high sensitivity, his personality is the sweetest and I think he melts the heart of most people that meet him.
My Requirements
The ideal candidate would be patient, kind, calm, and emotionally attuned, with experience supporting children with disabilities and/or medical complexity. Experience with PEG feeding, administering medications, physiotherapy support, or AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) would be highly beneficial. However, we would be happy to train someone with a willingness to learn.
The role would involve:
Providing attentive day-to-day care in the home
Supporting play, sensory activities, and developmental engagement
Assisting with physiotherapy exercises and positioning
Supporting alternative communication methods (AAC)
Administering feeds/medications as needed
Helping create a joyful, nurturing, and stimulating environment for Cyrus
We are looking for someone collaborative and proactive who is comfortable working closely with parents and therapists as part of a wider support team.
