Play Buddy / Activity Companion Wanted

I’m looking for a friendly, energetic and playful person to become a buddy for my 10-year-old son, who will be starting Year 6 in September.

My son is autistic and has ADHD. He experiences high levels of anxiety, can become overwhelmed, and needs plenty of reassurance and gentle encouragement to engage in activities and interact with others. I’m looking for someone who can build a trusting relationship with him and help him feel more confident through companionship, play and shared experiences.

I’m looking for someone with a fun, playful personality who enjoys getting involved, brings lots of positive energy and can help my son feel safe and supported while encouraging him to step outside his comfort zone. I will be present during all outdoor activities.

I’d love to introduce him to a wider range of activities such as obstacle courses, mini golf, ice skating and other fun outings, as well as games, Lego, arts and crafts and creative activities. The main focus is helping him feel more comfortable getting out and about, building his confidence and making activities enjoyable with someone by his side. There’ll be lots of encouragement and reassurance, but never any pressure.

Alongside experience with autism and ADHD, what’s really important is someone with a naturally playful and creative personality who can really engage with him, have fun and build a genuine connection. Someone patient and understanding who can encourage him to join in and enjoy activities at his own pace.

Ofsted registered, or willing to become Ofsted registered, would be desirable.
