Lydia G
Part Time Nanny Job in West Dorset District
About Me
We’re a small, warm family relocating from Italy to the Lyme Regis area this August — my fiancé and I, our son Theodore (currently 17 months), and our very calm dog, Veda. We’re looking for the right person to become Theo’s dedicated part-time nanny: a consistent, familiar presence in his week rather than a nursery, because at this age we believe a steady one-to-one relationship will do far more for his security and happiness.
My Requirements
The role:
• Permanent, part-time: Monday–Friday, 4 hours each morning (around 20 hours/week)
• Sole charge of one happy, easy-going 17-month-old — his dedicated carer and playmate
• Based in our home and/or out & about, weather dependant! (my fiancé will be studying full-time and I work from home, so you won’t be alone in the house — but Theo will be yours to care for)
• Start: Mid-August 2026. We will be in the area the week of July 13th so could arrange to meet up to see whether the role could be a good fit
Who it might suit:
The morning hours make this ideal for an experienced nanny who likes their afternoons free — perhaps someone with school-age children of their own, or who pairs it with an afternoon or after-school role. A calm, low-pressure position: one child, in a beautiful part of the country.
What we’re looking for:
• A qualified or highly experienced career nanny — ideally Level 3 Early Years (CACHE/NNEB/BTEC) or equivalent
• Current paediatric first aid
• Warm, reliable, and comfortable around a friendly dog
• Contactable references
• Language spoken could be either English or Italian
Terms:
• You would be properly employed through PAYE with paid holiday — run correctly via a payroll service, so you’re a fully employed nanny with all your rights, never cash-in-hand
• A respectful, easy family to work for, in a lovely coastal setting
A small “plus” (not a requirement):
Once Theo knows you well, we’d love to have you as our occasional evening babysitter for the rare night out. He’s an excellent sleeper and always goes down before we’d leave, so in practice that tends to be a quiet evening on the sofa rather than hands-on care.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you, and to know a little about yourself, your experience and qualifications, and what drew you to this job listing.
