As a qualified primary school teacher and experienced Ofsted registered childminder, I combine the comfort of a home from home setting with a strong understanding of early learning, development, and school readiness. Days include a balance of free play, creative activities, stories, outdoor play, local walks, nature based learning, and opportunities to develop independence, communication, and social confidence.
Being based near the coast gives Little Newts a lovely opportunity to make the most of beach walks, fresh air, nature, seasonal exploring, and the local community. My aim is to give children a childhood rich in warmth, wonder, confidence, and happy memories.
My Experience
I have over 26 years of experience working with children across Early Years and Key Stage 1.
After completing my BA Honours Primary Education degree with QTS, I began my career as an Early Years Leader in a preschool room before moving into primary teaching. I then spent many years teaching Years 1 and 2, working closely with nursery and reception staff to support children’s transition through the Early Years Foundation Stage and into Key Stage 1.
I became an Ofsted registered childminder in September 2017 and have since built Little Newts around the same values I loved most in teaching: warmth, trust, creativity, communication, confidence and a genuine love of helping children grow.
My experience includes supporting children’s speech and language, emotional development, independence, early reading and maths, creative learning, outdoor play and school readiness. I also have experience supporting children with additional needs and understand how important it is to work closely with parents so every child feels secure, understood and able to thrive.
My Qualifications
BA Honours Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status, specialising in Art.
Ofsted registered childminder since September 2017.
Paediatric First Aid trained.
Enhanced DBS checked.
I undertake regular training, courses, seminars and webinars to keep my knowledge and practice up to date. My professional background in both teaching and childminding gives me a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage, child development, school readiness, safeguarding, behaviour support, communication, creativity and emotional wellbeing.
My Availability
Spaces are expected to be available from August 2026 at Little Newts Childminding in Greatstone, near New Romney.
My usual childcare hours are:
Monday to Friday
7.30am to 5.30pm
Alternative times may be possible by discussion, depending on family needs and availability.

My Fees
- Childminding from £8.00 per hour
Childminding fees start from £8.00 per hour.
Fees will depend on the days, hours and type of care required, and can be discussed individually with each family.
Tax Free Childcare and funded childcare may be available, subject to eligibility and confirmation of arrangements for the new Greatstone setting.
