My Summary
About Me
A little bit about us!
Hi, I’m Melissa, the person behind The Secret Nest, and I run our setting alongside my mum, making us a very special mum-and-daughter childminding team.
I’m the Ofsted registered childminder and my mum is my Ofsted registered assistant. Together, we bring a warm, caring and family-focused approach to our setting, creating a home-from-home environment where children can feel safe, secure, happy and truly themselves.
I’m a mum of three, so I know first-hand how important it is to find childcare where you feel completely comfortable leaving your little one. I’m naturally caring, bubbly and hands-on, and I absolutely love watching children grow, develop their personalities and reach those exciting little milestones.
My mum and I have always loved being around children, and creating The Secret Nest together felt like the perfect opportunity to combine our passion for childcare with our love of family life.
We believe children learn best when they are happy, engaged and given the freedom to explore. We love getting stuck into messy and sensory play, crafts, outdoor adventures, books, music and lots of opportunities for children to learn through their own interests and everyday experiences.
Most importantly, we want The Secret Nest to feel like an extension of home — somewhere children are known, listened to, encouraged and celebrated, while parents feel reassured that their little one is receiving genuine care, attention and lots of love.
We can’t wait to welcome you and your little ones into our little nest! Xx
My Experience
I’m a warm, caring and passionate childminder who believes that children learn best when they feel safe, happy, valued and truly listened to.
As a mum myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you can completely trust with your child. I have hands-on experience of caring for children from babies through to school age, and I understand that every child is unique, with their own personality, interests, routines and individual needs.
I have experience supporting children through all the little stages and milestones of early childhood, from settling into childcare and developing independence, to communication, physical development, social skills and preparing for school.
My approach is very child-led. I love creating fun, meaningful experiences through play, exploration, messy play, sensory activities, outdoor learning, books, music and everyday experiences. I follow each child's interests and use these as opportunities to support their learning and development in a natural and enjoyable way.
I’m also passionate about building strong relationships with parents and keeping you involved in your child’s time with me. I want you to feel reassured that your child is not only being cared for, but is genuinely known, understood and celebrated.
My aim is to create a home-from-home environment where children can be themselves, develop at their own pace and make lots of happy memories along the way.
